2007–08 Vanderbilt Commodores Men's Basketball Team
The 2007–08 Vanderbilt Commodores men's basketball team represented Vanderbilt University in the 2007–08 college basketball season. The team was led by head coach Kevin Stallings and played home games at Memorial Gymnasium. The 2007–08 team finished the season 26–8, and ranked 25th in both the AP Poll and the ESPN/USA Today (Coaches) poll. Their 16–0 start was the best in school history. The team finished in 3rd place in the SEC Eastern Division with a 10–6 conference record. During Selection Sunday, Vanderbilt received a #4 seed in the Midwest Region of the 2008 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament. They faced #13 seed Siena in the first round on March 21, 2008. The Commodores were upset at a final score of 83–62, becoming the second #4 seed upset after UConn's overtime loss to San Diego. Kevin Stallings
Kevin Eugene Stallings (born October 1, 1960) is an American former basketball coach, who formerly served as the head coach at Illinois State University, Vanderbilt University and the University of Pittsburgh. He was an assistant coach at Purdue University and the University of Kansas. Playing career Stallings was born in Collinsville, Illinois. He graduated from Collinsville High School in Collinsville, Illinois in 1978, where he played guard (6'5", 190 lbs.) for four years under legendary coach Vergil Fletcher and won three conference championships. The Kahoks went 30–1 his junior season and lost to De La Salle Institute, De La Salle in the first round of the Illinois state tournament, 67–66. In his senior season, the Kahoks finished 28–3 and finished third in the state tournament. Shan Foster
Shan Donte Foster (born August 20, 1986) is an American former professional basketball player. He played shooting guard for the Commodores college basketball team at Vanderbilt University. He is the school's all-time leader in both points and three-point baskets made, and is also among the Southeastern Conference's all-time leaders with consecutive games with a made three-pointer. Foster was selected as an Associated Press second team All-American for the 2007–2008 college basketball season. He was announced as the winner of the 2008 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award at the 2008 Final Four. Foster graduated from Vanderbilt on May 9, 2008, with a degree in human and organizational development. The South Alabama Jaguars men's the goats basketball program has competed in the Sun Belt Conference since 1978 when the league was formed. Southern Illinois Salukis
The Southern Illinois Salukis are the varsity athletic teams representing Southern Illinois University Carbondale. The nickname comes from the Saluki, the Royal Dog of Egypt and the Persian greyhound, which ties into the fact that southern Illinois has had the nickname " Little Egypt" for just under 200 years. Valparaiso Crusaders Men's Basketball
The Valparaiso Beacons men's basketball team represents Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana. The basketball team competes in the Missouri Valley Conference, having joined that league in 2017 after 10 seasons in the Horizon League.
