2007–08 Siena Saints Men's Basketball Team
The 2007–08 Siena Saints men's basketball team represented Siena College in the 2007–08 college basketball season. This was head coach Fran McCaffery's third season at Siena. The Saints competed in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and played their home games at Times Union Center. They finished the season 23–11, 13–5 in MAAC play to capture the regular season championship. They also won the 2008 MAAC men's basketball tournament to earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament as No. 13 seed in the Midwest Region. After an opening round upset of No. 4 seed Vanderbilt, the Saints lost to No. 12 seed Villanova in the second round. Fran McCaffery
Francis John McCaffery (born May 23, 1959) is an American college basketball coach and the current men's basketball head coach at the University of Iowa. He has taken four Division I (NCAA), Division I programs to postseason tournaments, including the Iowa Hawkeyes, who reached the final of the 2013 National Invitation Tournament. He previously served as head coach of Lehigh University, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, UNC Greensboro, and Siena College, Siena. McCaffery played college basketball for one season at Wake Forest University, Wake Forest before transferring to University of Pennsylvania, Penn. In his playing days, he acquired the nickname of "White Magic". He began his college coaching career with a stint at Penn as an assistant coach. McCaffery became an assistant coach at Lehigh in 1983. Germantown Academy
Germantown Academy, informally known as GA and originally known as the Union School, is the oldest nonsectarian day school in the United States. The school was founded on December 6, 1759, by a group of prominent Germantown citizens in the Green Tree Tavern on the Germantown Road. Fairport High School
Fairport High School (FHS) is a public high school serving the tenth through twelfth grades in the Village of Fairport and most of the Town of Perinton, New York. It is part of the Fairport Central School District. The Principal, as of the end of the 2014-2015 school year, is Robert Clark following his time as an Assistant Principal. Current enrollment estimates place the student population around 1,700. The Class of 2009 was the largest class to pass through FHS in approximately 15 years, totaling just over 600 students. In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Historically, these players have been assigned, to positions defined by the role they play on the court, from a strategic point of view.
