During the 2007–08 English football season, Preston North End competed in the Football League Championship. Season summary After losing key player David Nugent, Preston North End made a bad start to the 2007–08 season with just three victories from the opening 16 matches, which resulted in manager Paul Simpson being sacked on 13 November. Everton assistant manager Alan Irvine took over as manager seven days later and guided Preston to a 15th-place finish. Karl Leon Hawley (born 6 December 1981) is an English professional footballer who plays for Sutton Coldfield. He has represented the England C team. Career Born in Walsall, West Midlands, Hawley started his career for his hometown team Walsall but only played one league game. Callum Iain Davidson (born 25 June 1976 in Stirling) is a Scottish professional football player and coach. He is the manager of St Johnstone. Davidson played as a left-back for St Johnstone, Blackburn Rovers, Leicester City and Preston North End between 1994 and 2014.
