2007–08 Huddersfield Town A.F.C. Season
Huddersfield Town's 2007–08 campaign saw The Terriers fail to make any progress for a second successive season in Football League One. Andy Ritchie lost his job on April Fool's Day following a 4–1 defeat at local rivals Oldham Athletic. He was replaced by Stan Ternent for the new season. The season was also notable for 2 other reasons. One was the FA Cup run, which saw Town reach the 5th round for the first time since the 1998–99 season. This included a win over Premier League side Birmingham City and a rematch against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The other big story was the handover of chairmanship from Ken Davy to local businessman Dean Hoyle. He would become the chairman after the centenary season. Huddersfield Town A
Huddersfield is a market town in the Kirklees district in West Yorkshire, England. It is the administrative centre and largest settlement in the Kirklees district. The town is in the foothills of the Pennines. The River Holme's confluence into the similar-sized Colne to the south of the town centre which then flows into the Calder in the north eastern outskirts of the town. The rivers around the town provided soft water required for textile treatment in large weaving sheds, this made it a prominent mill town with an economic boom in the early part of the Victorian era Industrial Revolution. The town centre has much neoclassical Victorian architecture, one example is which is a Grade I listed building – described by John Betjeman as "the most splendid station façade in England" – and won the Europa Nostra award for architecture. David Mirfin
David Matthew Mirfin (born 18 April 1985) is an English retired professional footballer who played as a centre back. Career Huddersfield Town Mirfin was born in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. He graduated from the Huddersfield Town Academy in the 2003–04 season and made an immediate impression, helping the team keep 16 clean sheets out of the 25 matches he appeared in that season and also scoring three goals as an emergency striker. On 5 May 2007, Mirfin was voted the Player's Player of the Year, the Away Supporters' Top Performer and the Fans' Player of the Year. He also collected the Young Terriers Award and the ''Huddersfield Examiner'' Majority Man of the Match for the whole season. Michael Collins (footballer, Born 1986)
Michael Anthony Collins (born 30 April 1986) is an English football player and coach. He is currently the Lead u23s coach for Sheffield United. As a player, he has played club football for Huddersfield Town, Scunthorpe United, AFC Wimbledon, Oxford United, York City, Leyton Orient and F.C. Halifax Town; he also had a spell playing in India for I-League side Bengaluru and represented the Republic of Ireland under-18, under-19 and under-21 teams. Joseph Peter Skarz (born 13 July 1989) is an English professional association football, footballer who was most recently the player-coach at Golcar United F.C., Golcar United. Andrew Holdsworth, (born 29 January 1984) is an English retired professional footballer who last played for Guiseley. He has previously played for Huddersfield Town, Oldham Athletic and Morecambe. The Football Association Challenge Cup, more commonly known as the FA Cup, is an annual knockout football competition in men's domestic English football. First played during the 1871–72 season, it is the oldest national football competition in the world. It is organised by and named after The Football Association (The FA). Since 2015, it has been known as The Emirates FA Cup after its headline sponsor. A concurrent women's tournament is also held, the Women's FA Cup. Stan Ternent
Francis Stanley Ternent (born 16 June 1946) is an English former footballer and manager. He managed Blackpool, Hull City, Bury, Burnley, Gillingham and Huddersfield Town. He was a scout for Hull City until January 2017. As a manager, he won three promotions between 1996 and 2000, including two in succession (from Division Three to Division One) with Bury. The other came with Burnley in 1999–2000. Playing career Born in Gateshead, Ternent signed as an apprentice for Burnley FC, after being spotted by Jack Hixon, the legendary " Scout " who recognised the early talents of Ralph Coates, Trevor Stephen, Steve Bruce and Alan Shearer, amongst others. With Burnley's famed youth policy, Ternent found 1st team opportunities limited, and was transferred to 2nd Tier Carlisle United, where he gained a reputation as a hard tackling midfielder.
