First division results The first division tournament was divided in two sections: the Apertura and the Clausura and had 12 teams participating in a two round all-play-all system. The team with the most points at the end of the two rounds was crowned as the champion. Sportivo Luqueño
Club Sportivo Luqueño is a Paraguayan football club, based in the city of Luque on the outskirts of the capital Asunción. The club has won two Paraguayan championships. History The club was founded in 1921 when three teams from the city of Luque (Marte Atlético, General Aquino and Vencedor) decided to merge and form one single club: Sportivo Luqueño. Only three years after its foundation, the team was already playing in the first division and fighting for the title. So far, Sportivo Luqueño has won three first division titles in the Paraguayan league, in 1951, 1953 and 2007. For the 1999 Copa América, hosted by Paraguay, the club built a brand new stadium which seats 25,000, making it the third largest in Paraguay (after the Defensores del Chaco in Asunción and the Estadio Antonio Oddone Sarubbi in Ciudad del Este). The Unión del Fútbol del Interior ( en, Football Union of the Interior) or UFI is an association affiliated to the Paraguayan Football Association that was founded in 1927 to organize and govern football outside of Asunción, specifically on each of the different Departments of Paraguay. The UFI is constituted by the clubs and leagues that are part of the Departmental Football Federation from each Department in Paraguay. Club tournaments organized by the UFI gives chances to teams from all over Paraguay to reach the first division by clearing lower division levels. Tercera División ( en, Third Division) was the fourth tier of the Spanish football league system. Founded in 1929, it was below the ''Primera División'' (also known as La Liga), the ''Segunda División'', and the semi-professional ''Segunda División B''. For the 2021–22 season, Tercera División was replaced by Tercera División RFEF, which became the fifth tier due to the creation of a new, semi-professional third division by the Spanish federation (RFEF) called the Primera División RFEF. Club Silvio Pettirossi
Club Silvio Pettirossi, is a Paraguayan football club based in the barrio of Republicano, in Asunción. The club was founded March 11, 1926 and plays in the fourth division of the Paraguayan league. Their home games are played at the Bernabé Pedrozo stadium. The club's name was chosen in honor of Silvio Pettirossi, a famous Paraguayan airplane pilot and aviation pioneer. In 2007 they won the Intermedia (Paraguayan second division tournament) and will thus be in the top flight of Paraguayan football in 2008. Paraguayan Football League System
The Paraguayan football league system is a series of interconnected leagues for football clubs in Paraguay. Overview At the top is the ''Primera División'' or ''División de Honor'' (first division) with 12 clubs. Below the 1st level is the ''Intermedia'' (second division). In order to get promoted to the Intermedia there are two subdivisions at the 3rd level: the ''Primera División B Metropolitana'', which comprises teams from the Gran Asunción area; and the ''Primera División B Nacional'' which contains the best teams from the different Departments of Paraguay. The 4th level is similar, with the ''Primera División C'' containing only teams from the Gran Asunción area. Club General Díaz (Luque)
General Díaz Football Club is a Paraguayan football club from Luque that currently plays in the División Intermedia. Founded in 1917, it plays at the Estadio General Adrián Jara in Luque. The club's name came from José Eduvigis Díaz, a Paraguayan general. History The club was founded on September 22, 1917. In 2004, the club finished as runner-up of the Tercera División, but only one club was available for promotion at that time. In 2006, they were runner-up again, but this time they were able to be promoted to the Segunda Division (Intermedia). The Campeonato Nacional de Liga de Segunda División, commonly known as Segunda División, and officially known as LaLiga HyperMotion for sponsorship reasons, is the men's second professional association football division of the Spanish football league system. Copa Sudamericana 2008
The 2008 Copa Sudamericana de Clubes was the seventh edition of the Copa Sudamericana football tournament. The draw for the tournament took place on June 10, 2008 in Buenos Aires and the competition was played between July 30 and December 3. Arsenal de Sarandí were the defending champions, having won the trophy the previous season. Brazilian side Internacional won the 2008 tournament, becoming the first Brazilian winners of the trophy.
