The men's marathon event at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics took place on August 25, 2007 in the streets of Osaka, Japan. Marathon
The marathon is a long-distance foot race with a distance of , usually run as a road race, but the distance can be covered on trail routes. The marathon can be completed by running or with a run/walk strategy. There are also wheelchair divisions. More than 800 marathons are held throughout the world each year, with the vast majority of competitors being recreational athletes, as larger marathons can have tens of thousands of participants. The marathon was one of the original modern Olympic events in 1896. The distance did not become standardized until 1921. The distance is also included in the World Athletics Championships, which began in 1983. Seteng Ayele
Ayele Seteng (born 11 April 1955) is an Ethiopian-born Israeli long-distance runner who specializes in the marathon. Personal life He was born and raised in Ethiopia, and is of Beta Israel heritage. In 1991 he emigrated to Israel. He is also known as Haile Satayin, a variant of "Ayele Seteng". The different existing versions of his name are due to transliteration. Daniel ("Dan") Stephen Rowley Robinson (born 13 January 1975 in Cheltenham) is a former English long-distance runner who specialises in the marathon. He represented Great Britain in the marathon at the 2004 and 2008 Olympic games. He finished in 12th place in the 2005 World Championships and in 2006 won the bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games.
