2007 Oklahoma Sooners Football Team
The 2007 Oklahoma Sooners football team represented the University of Oklahoma in the 2007 NCAA Division I FBS football season, the 113th season of Sooner football. The team was led by two-time Walter Camp Coach of the Year Award winner, Bob Stoops, in his ninth season as head coach. They played their homes games at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman, Oklahoma. They were a charter member of the Big 12 Conference. Conference play began with an upset loss to the Colorado Buffaloes in Boulder, Colorado on September 29, and ended with a victory over the Missouri Tigers in the Big 12 Championship Game on December 1. The Sooners finished the regular season with an 11–2 record (6–2 in Big 12) while winning their fifth Big 12 title and their 41st conference title overall. Bob Stoops
Robert Anthony Stoops (born September 9, 1960) is an American football coach. He was the head football coach at the University of Oklahoma from 1999 through the 2016 season, and on an interim basis during the 2021 Alamo Bowl. He led the Oklahoma Sooners to a record of 191–48 over his career. His 2000 Oklahoma Sooners football team won the 2001 Orange Bowl, which served as the BCS National Championship Game, and earned a consensus national championship. Since 2020, Stoops has been a head coach with the XFL, coaching the Arlington Renegades in 2020 and has been re-signed for 2023. Stoops played college football at the University of Iowa as a defensive back from 1979 to 1982. 2007 Colorado Buffaloes Football Team
The 2007 Colorado Buffaloes football team represented the University of Colorado at Boulder in the 2007 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team was coached by Dan Hawkins in his second season at Colorado and played their home games at Folsom Field. Colorado finished 6–7 after losing in the Independence Bowl to Alabama. 2007 was Colorado's first consecutive losing season in 22 years, but represented a vast improvement over the team's 2–10 mark in 2006. Rhett Bomar
Rhett Matthew Bomar (born July 2, 1985) is a former American football quarterback. He was drafted by the New York Giants in the fifth round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He played college football at the University of Oklahoma and Sam Houston State. He was also a member of the Minnesota Vikings and Oakland Raiders. Personal life As a boy, Bomar lived in Groesbeck, Texas where his father Jerry coached and was the ball boy for their State Championship team in 1991. Coached by his father at Grand Prairie High School who is now once again the athletic director and head coach of the high school football team in Groesbeck. Bomar was a starter for three years. Sam Bradford
Samuel Jacob Bradford (born November 8, 1987) is a former American football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for nine seasons, most notably with the St. Louis Rams and Minnesota Vikings. He was also a member of the Philadelphia Eagles and Arizona Cardinals. Bradford attended Putnam City North High School in Oklahoma City, where he starred in football, basketball and golf. As a senior quarterback in 2005, he threw for 2,029 yards and 17 touchdowns in 12 games. Paul Thompson (born November 23, 1983) is a former American football quarterback. He was signed by the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2007. He played college football at Oklahoma. He has also played for the Tennessee Titans. Early years Thompson attended Leander High School in Leander, Texas and was a letterman in football, basketball, and track. Reginald Smith, Jr. (born September 3, 1986) is a former American football safety. He was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft. The 2008 NFL Draft was the 73rd annual meeting of National Football League (NFL) franchises to select newly eligible American football players. The draft took place at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, New York, on April 26 and April 27, 2008. For the 29th consecutive year, ESPN televised the draft; the NFL Network also broadcast the event, its third year doing so. Of the 252 selections, 220 were regular selections in rounds one through seven, and 32 were compensatory selections, distributed among rounds three through seven. Curtis Lofton
Curtis Tremayne Lofton (born June 2, 1986) is a former American football inside linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the University of Oklahoma, and earned All-American honors. Lofton was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He also played for the New Orleans Saints and Oakland Raiders. Early years Lofton was born in Kingfisher, Oklahoma. He attended Kingfisher High School, where he was a standout player for the Kingfisher Yellowjackets high school football team. A three-year letterman and starter, he also played fullback.
