2007 Lagos State Gubernatorial Election
The 2007 Lagos State gubernatorial election occurred on 14 April 2007. Babatunde Raji Fashola of the AC defeated other candidates, by polling 599,300 votes, PDP's Musiliu Olatunde Obanikoro was closest contender with 383,956 votes. Babatunde Fashola emerged the ACN candidate at the gubernatorial primary election. His running mate was Sarah Adebisi Sosan. Of the 22 candidates who contested in the governorship election, 20 were male, only two were female. Among the deputies, 18 were male, four were female. Electoral system The Governor of Lagos State is elected using the plurality voting system. Primary election PDP primary The PDP governorship primary election was in the main bowl of the National Stadium Surulere, Lagos, on held on Saturday 9 December 2006, and lasted about 48 hours. Babatunde Fashola
Babatunde Raji Fashola ( yo, Bàbátúndé Rájí Fáṣọlá; born 28 June 1963) is a Nigerian lawyer and politician currently serving as the Federal Minister of Works and Housing of Nigeria. He served two terms as Governor of Lagos State from 29 May 2007 to 29 May 2015. Early life Fashola was born on 28 June 1963, in Lagos at Island Maternity Hospital into the family of Ademola Fashola, a former journalist with the Daily Times of Nigeria, and Olufunke Agunbiade, a nurse. The Nigeria Advance Party was a progressive political party during the Second Nigerian Republic, registered for the 1983 elections. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is a political party in Nigeria. As of 2022, Ralph Nwosu is the National Chairman.There are 2 ADC members currently in the Nigerian National Assembly.
