The Women's high jump event at the 2007 European Athletics Indoor Championships was held on March 2–3. Medalists Note: Venelina Veneva (Bulgaria) originally took the bronze with 1.96 m but was later disqualified after testing positive for testosterone. The 2007 European Athletics Indoor Championships were held in the National Indoor Arena (NIA) in Birmingham, England, from Friday, 2 March to Sunday, 4 March 2007. Oana Pantelimon
Oana Manuela Pantelimon, née Musunoiu (born 27 September 1972 in Tecuci) is a Romanian high jumper. At the 2000 Olympic Games Pantelimon ended in third place, tied with Kajsa Bergqvist of Sweden. As the two athletes had an identical jumping record, with perfect attempts up to 1.99 where both had one foul, they shared the bronze medal.Note: ThOfficial Report of the XXVII Olympiad(page 447 of 548) erroneously lists her place as fourth. Pantelimon, who had no international honors before this competition, even jumped a personal best of 1.99 metres, improving her old mark with 5 centimetres. Pantelimon has not been able to win any titles since the 2000 Olympics. Venelina Veneva
Venelina Veneva-Mateeva (née ''Veneva,'' bg, Венелина Венева-Матеева, born June 13, 1974 in Ruse) is a Bulgarian high jumper. Biography Talented at a young age, she jumped 1.93 metres indoor in 1990 to record a world best performance by a 15-year-old. She did not improve this result outdoor until 1995 (1.94 m). A disappointing 1996 season with a 29th place at the Olympic Games and 1.88 as season best was followed by a jump of 2.03 metres in 1998. In 2001, she managed 2.04 m, the ninth highest jump for a woman. That year she won a bronze medal at the World Indoor Championships, as well as placing fourth at the outdoor World Championships. Anne Gerd Eieland
Anne Gerd Eieland (born 28 December 1982) from Iveland, Aust-Agder is Norway's third best female high jumper of all time, behind Hanne Haugland and Tonje Angelsen. Eieland was undefeated in Norwegian competition from 2001 to 2005. She was brought up in her teenage years by Torstein Bærheim, who was her trainer for many years, and who took Eieland to record level in 2003. She later found a new trainer, and in winter 2006, Hanne Haugland came in as Eieland's new mentor. Eieland's first major senior championship was the 2003 World Championships in Paris. At the 2006 European Championships in Gothenburg, she failed to clear the opening height of 1.78 metres, and finished without a result. Deirdre Ryan (born 1 June 1982) is an Irish high jumper. She competed in the 2012 Olympic Games. Biography Deirdre Ryan was born 1 June 1982. She tried several sports as a child, including basketball, hockey, swimming, soccer, and gymnastics. At the age of eight, she joined Dundrum South Dublin Athletics Club.
