2007 Colorado Buffaloes Football Team
The 2007 Colorado Buffaloes football team represented the University of Colorado at Boulder in the 2007 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team was coached by Dan Hawkins in his second season at Colorado and played their home games at Folsom Field. Colorado finished 6–7 after losing in the Independence Bowl to Alabama. 2007 was Colorado's first consecutive losing season in 22 years, but represented a vast improvement over the team's 2–10 mark in 2006. Dan Hawkins (American Football)
Danny Clarence Hawkins (born November 10, 1960) is an American football coach at UC Davis. A former player and sportscaster, he served as the head football coach at Willamette University (1993–1997), Boise State University (2001–2005), and the University of Colorado (2006–2010), compiling a career college football record of 112–61–1. Hawkins was the head coach of the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL) for five games in 2013 before he was fired mid-season. A return specialist or kick returner is a player on the special teams unit of a gridiron football team who specializes in returning punts and kickoffs. There are few players who are exclusively return specialists; most also play another position such as wide receiver, defensive back, or running back. Terrence Wheatley
Terrence Wheatley (born May 5, 1985) is a former American football cornerback. He played college football at Colorado and was drafted by the New England Patriots in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft. Wheatley has also been a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Buffalo Bills and Tennessee Titans. Early years Wheatley attended Plano East Senior High School in Plano, Texas, where he holds track and field records in the triple jump, the long jump, and the 100 meters. The Dave Rimington Trophy is awarded to the player considered to be the best American football center in college football. Dave Rimington was a center who played at the University of Nebraska from 1979 to 1982.
