2007 Big East Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2007 Big East Men's Basketball Championship was played from March 7 to March 10, 2007. The tournament took place at Madison Square Garden in New York City and was sponsored by Aéropostale. The Georgetown Hoyas won the tournament for the first time since 1989 and the seventh time overall, and were awarded an automatic bid to the 2007 NCAA men's basketball tournament. Jeff Green of Georgetown was given the Dave Gavitt Trophy, awarded to the tournament's most outstanding player. Madison Square Garden, colloquially known as The Garden or by its initials MSG, is a multi-purpose indoor arena in New York City. Samuel David Young (born June 1, 1985) is an American/Lebanese former professional basketball player for Homenetmen Beirut of the Lebanese Basketball League and the Lebanese National Basketball Team. Charles Edward Smith IV (born November 29, 1967) is an American former professional basketball player who played with the Boston Celtics and Minnesota Timberwolves in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Smith was also a member of the bronze medal-winning 1988 United States Olympic team and was an All-American college player at Georgetown. Alonzo Mourning
Alonzo Harding Mourning Jr. (born February 8, 1970) is an American former professional basketball player who has served as vice president of player programs and development for the Miami Heat since June 2009. Mourning played most of his 15-year National Basketball Association (NBA) career for the Heat. Nicknamed "Zo", Mourning played the center position. In basketball, a rebound, sometimes colloquially referred to as a board, is a statistic awarded to a player who retrieves the ball after a missed field goal or free throw. Rebounds in basketball are a routine part in the game; if a shot is successfully made possession of the ball will change, otherwise the rebound allows the defensive team to take possession. Rebounds are also given to a player who tips in a missed shot on his team's offensive end. A rebound can be grabbed by either an offensive player or a defensive player. Roy Hibbert
Roy Denzil Hibbert (born December 11, 1986) is a Jamaican-American former professional basketball player. He is a two-time NBA All-Star, and earned NBA All-Defensive Second Team honors in 2014. Hibbert was the runner-up for the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award in the 2013-14 NBA season, placing second behind Joakim Noah.
