2007 Asian Championships In Athletics
The 17th Asian Athletics Championships were held on the Amman International Stadium in Amman, Jordan between 25 July and 29 July 2007. It was moved in the last minute from original host country Lebanon due to the unrest in that country. Countries like China did not send their best athletes, instead choosing to prepare for the 2007 World Championships which were staged a month later. Khalil Al-Hanahneh
Khalil Hamad Al-Hanahneh (born May 11, 1980) is a Jordanian athlete who specializes in the 100 metres. Al-Hanahneh participated in 2004 Summer Olympics and 2008 Summer Olympics. Al-Hanahneh has also represented his country at the 2003 World Championship (100 metres), 2007 World Championship (200 metres) and 2009 World Championship (200 metres). He won medals in the sprints at the 2007 Pan Arab Games and 2005 West Asian Games and was the bronze medallist over 200 metres at the 2007 Asian Athletics Championships. Abdullah Ahmad Hassan
Ahmad Hassan Abdullah ( ar, عبد الله أحمد حسن, born Albert Chepkurui on July 29, 1981 in Kaptarakwa, Kenya) is a long-distance and cross country runner, now representing Qatar after his switch from Kenya in 2003. Other runners who have made the same switch include Saif Saeed Shaheen. Abdullah has won bronze medals at the 2005 IAAF World Cross Country Championships and the 2004 and 2008 editions of the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships. He represented Qatar over 10,000 metres at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and three times at the IAAF World Championships in Athletics. He is a two-time Asian champion in the 10,000 m (2003 and 2007) and holds the Asian record with his personal best time of 26:38.76 minutes. Felix Kikwai Kibore ( ar, فيليكس كيبوري; born February 18, 1988, in Kenya) is a Qatari long-distance runner of Kenyan origin. The 5000 metres or 5000-metre run is a common long-distance running event in track and field, approximately equivalent to or . It is one of the track events in the Olympic Games and the World Championships in Athletics, run over laps of a standard track. Mohammed Othman Shaween (born 15 February 1986 in Jeddah) is a Saudi Arabian middle distance runner who specializes in the 1500 metres. He received a three-year ban from the sport for doping. The 1500 metres or 1,500-metre run (typically pronounced 'fifteen-hundred metres') is the foremost middle distance track event in athletics. The distance has been contested at the Summer Olympics since 1896 and the World Championships in Athletics since 1983. It is equivalent to 1.5 kilometers or approximately miles. The 800 metres, or meters ( US spelling), is a common track running event. It is the shortest commonly run middle-distance running event. The 800 metres is run over two laps of an outdoor (400-metre) track and has been an Olympic event since the first modern games in 1896. During the winter track season the event is usually run by completing four laps of an indoor 200-metre track. The event was derived from the imperial measurement of a half mile (880 yards), a traditional English racing distance. 800m is 4.67m less than a half mile. The event combines aerobic endurance with anaerobic conditioning and sprint speed, so the 800m athlete has to combine training for both. Runners in this event are occasionally fast enough to also compete in the 400 metres but more commonly have enough endurance to 'double up' in the 1500m.
