2006 Lewisham London Borough Council Election
Elections to Lewisham London Borough Council were held on 4 May 2006. The whole council was up for election for the first time since the 2002 election. Lewisham local elections are held every four years, with the next due in 2010. Election result The Green Party won all three seats in the Brockley and Ladywell wards and the Socialist Alternative won two seats in the Telegraph Hill ward. Election for Mayor ¹Under the Supplementary Vote system, if no candidate receives 50% of 1st choice votes, 2nd choice votes are added to the result for the top two 1st choice candidates. Lewisham London Borough Council
Lewisham London Borough Council is the local authority for the London Borough of Lewisham in Greater London, England. It is a London borough council, one of 32 in the United Kingdom capital of London. The council is unusual in that its executive function is controlled by a directly elected mayor of Lewisham, currently Damien Egan. Lewisham is divided into 19 wards, each electing two or three councillors. There are currently 16 three member wards and 3 two member wards. Following the May 2018 election, Lewisham London Borough Council comprises 54 Labour Party councillors. James Spencer Cleverly (born 4 September 1969) is a British politician and Army Reserve officer who has served as Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs since 2022. A member of the Conservative Party, he has been the member of Parliament (MP) for Braintree in Essex since 2015. Eleanor Claire Reeves (born 11 December 1980) is a British politician who has served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Lewisham West and Penge since 2017. A member of the Labour Party, she was Shadow Solicitor General for England and Wales from April 2020 to December 2021. She has been Shadow Minister for Prisons and Probation since 2021. Darren Paul Johnson (born 1966) is a former English politician and prominent member of the Green Party of England and Wales. He represented the Green Party on the London Assembly from 2000 to 2016 and was a Green councillor in the London Borough of Lewisham. Sir Steve Bullock (born 1953) is a British politician who served as the first directly elected mayor of the London Borough of Lewisham from 2002 to 2018.
