2006 Kansas City Brigade Season
The Kansas City Brigade season was the opening season for the franchise. After the announcement that the New Orleans VooDoo would suspend operations for the 2006 AFL season due to Hurricane Katrina, the AFL awarded an expansion franchise to Kansas City. Kevin Porter was the team's first head coach. They would be placed in the NC Southern, where they would take New Orleans' spot for the year. Kevin Porter (American Football)
Kevin Porter (born April 11, 1966) is an American football coach and former player. He played professionally as a defensive back for the Kansas City Chiefs and New York Jets in the National Football League (NFL). Porter served as the head coach for the Kansas City Brigade of the Arena Football League (AFL) from 2006 to 2008, compiling a record of 13–20, including a 0–1 mark in the postseason. In 2010, he was the head football coach at Avila University. For the fall of 2011, Porter became the athletic director and football coach at Georgia's Point University. He was the head football coach at Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, Georgia from 2016 to 2019. Raymond Philyaw
Raymond 'Ray' Philyaw (born July 30, 1974) is a former arena football quarterback who was most recently the offensive coordinator of the Jacksonville Sharks of the Arena Football League (AFL). He also played for the Cleveland Gladiators, Chicago Rush, Kansas City Brigade, Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings and the Albany/Indiana Firebirds, leading the former to the American Conference championship game in 2004 and 2005. Prior to his Arena Football career, he played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League and the Madison Mad Dogs of the Indoor Football League. After leaving to coach with the New Orleans VooDoo in 2011, he attempted a return as a player in 2012 with the San Jose SaberCats, but later became OC for the San Antonio Talons. James Jordan (American Football)
James Robert Jordan III (born June 11, 1978) is a former American football wide receiver. He played college football at Louisiana Tech and professionally in the National Football League and Arena Football League from 2001 to 2011. Jordan went to high school in Kenner, Louisiana.
