Canadian Interuniversity Sport
U Sports (stylized as U SPORTS) is the national sport governing body of university sport in Canada, comprising the majority of degree-granting universities in the country. Its equivalent body for organized sports at colleges in Canada is the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Some institutions are members of both bodies for different sports. Its name until October 20, 2016, was Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS; french: Sport interuniversitaire canadien, SIC, links=no). On that date, the organization rebranded as "U Sports" in both official languages. The University of Saskatchewan began in 1907 and has operated teams that compete with others since 1911. The term Huskie Athletics is defined as those student athletes from the University of Saskatchewan that compete in elite interuniversity competition administered by U Sports and its members, both as regions and as individual institutions. The York Lions is the official name for the athletic varsity teams that represent York University in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Carleton Ravens
The Carleton Ravens are the athletic teams that represent Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario. The most notable sports team for Carleton is the men's basketball team. In men's basketball, the Ravens have won 16 of the last 19 national men's championships, which is more than any top division college in Canada or the United States. The Ravens went on an 87-game winning streak from 2003 to 2006. They also had a 54-game home winning streak. The Ravens finished 2nd in the World University Basketball Championships in 2004. Osvaldo Jeanty
Osvaldo Jeanty (born August 1, 1983) is a Canadian basketball coach and former professional basketball player. He is one of the all-time greats of the Carleton University Ravens men's basketball team and a member of the Ravens' Hall of Fame. Jeanty was named ''CIS male athlete of the year'' in 2006, and ''CIS basketball player of the year'' in 2006 and 2007. He also played on Canada's men's national team. Upon graduation, he spent six years playing professionally in Germany, Morocco, Romania and in the NBL Canada. He retired from professional basketball in November 2013. University career Born in Belle-Rivière, Haiti, Jeanty attended Carleton University majoring in commerce. Ryan Bell (basketball)
Ryan Bell (born April 17, 1984) is a retired Canadian basketball player from Orleans, Ontario (suburban Ottawa, Ontario). Bell lastly played as guard for Espoon Honka in Finland. Bell has won four national championships as a member of Carleton University Ravens, winning in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. He studied sociology at Carleton University. Before Carleton, he attended Colonel By Secondary School. Bell joined the Canada national men's basketball team in 2006. He represented Canada at the 2007 Pan American Games and the FIBA Americas Championship 2007.
