2006 Atlantic Hockey Men's Ice Hockey Tournament
The 2006 AHA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament was the 3rd Atlantic Hockey Men's Ice Hockey Tournament. It was played between March 11 and March 18, 2006. Opening round games were played at home team campus sites, while the semifinals and championship games were played at the College of the Holy Cross, Holy Cross home venue: Hart Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. By winning the tournament, Holy Cross Crusaders men's ice hockey, Holy Cross received the Atlantic Hockey Association's automatic bid to the 2006 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament. This was the final year in which the AHA championship game was played at a non-neutral site. Format The tournament featured three rounds of play. Tom Fenton (ice Hockey)
Tom Fenton (born April 21, 1984) is a Canadian former ice hockey goaltender who played junior league hockey with Brad Staubitz, Sam Gagner, and John Tavares and later for American International College of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) from 2005 to 2009. In December 2005, as a freshman, he was named by Atlantic Hockey as "Rookie of the Week" twice and once in January 2006 as "Goalie of the Week" after a seven-game stretch where he allowed just 16 goals on 244 shots for a .934 save percentage. He was named "Rookie of the Week" again by Atlantic Hockey on January 12, 2006. Peter Joseph Ferraro (born January 24, 1973) is an American former professional ice hockey forward who played in the National Hockey League (NHL). He and his twin brother Chris became the second set of identical twins to play on the same NHL team, (the New York Rangers) in the 1995–1996 NHL hockey season. The first was Ron and Rich Sutter. Playing career Peter Ferraro was born in Port Jefferson, New York. As a youth, he and his brother Chris played in the 1985, 1986 and 1987 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournaments with the Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers minor ice hockey teams. Matt Scherer (November 21, 1983 – December 2021) was an American track and field athlete and a top professional pacemaker. High school career Scherer competed for Red Hill High School in Bridgeport, Illinois, from 1999 through 2002. His senior year he scored 28 individual points at the Illinois High School Association State Championship meet, which placed his school 3rd in the team standings. Milford Ice Pavilion is a 1,000-seat skating rink in Milford, Connecticut.
