2005–06 PSV Eindhoven Season
During the 2005–06 Dutch football season, PSV competed in the Eredivisie. Season summary Despite the loss of several key players following their unexpected run to the UEFA Champions League semi-final, PSV secured a second successive Eredivise title. However, they were unable to defend the KNVB Cup, losing to Ajax in the final, and were knocked out in the Champions League first knockout round by Lyon. At the end of the season, manager Guus Hiddink, who had concurrently managed the Australia national team, left to manage the Russia national team. He was succeeded as PSV manager by Ronald Koeman. Philips Sport Vereniging (; en, Philips Sports Association ), abbreviated as PSV and internationally known as PSV Eindhoven (), is a Dutch sports club from Eindhoven, Netherlands. It is best known for its professional football department, which has played in the Eredivisie, the top tier in Dutch football, since its inception in 1956. Arouna Koné (born 11 November 1983) is an Ivorian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Belgian club VK Weerde. After making a name for himself in the Eredivisie, with Roda JC and PSV, he signed with Sevilla in 2007, where he rarely appeared due to injury and loans. In 2012, he moved from Levante to the Premier League, where he represented Wigan Athletic and Everton, winning one FA Cup with the former. Johannes Vennegoor of Hesselink (; born 7 November 1978) is a Dutch former professional footballer. He formerly played for the Netherlands national team as a striker. Phillip Cocu
Phillip John-William Cocu (born 29 October 1970) is a Dutch professional football manager and former player, he is the manager of Vitesse. Cocu was born in Eindhoven but raised in Zevenaar, playing youth football for local clubs DCS and De Graafschap. After a year at AFC '34, he started his professional career at AZ. In 1990, Cocu moved to Vitesse. A broken fibula disrupted his first season, but he became a first-team regular in the following four seasons. In 1995, he joined PSV, where he won the KNVB Cup and the Eredivisie title in 1997. Cocu played for Barcelona between 1998 and 2004. Mika Väyrynen (born 28 December 1981) is a Swedish-born Finnish former footballer. Club career Early career Väyrynen started his career with FC Lahti and joined FC Jokerit for the 2001 season. Heerenveen Midway through that year SC Heerenveen beat Internazionale to his signature, Väyrynen opting for the Dutch club in order to have a better chance of a regular starting place. Michael John Ball (born 2 October 1979) is an English former professional footballer who played as a left back. Ball started his professional career at Everton, making his debut as a 17-year-old in 1997. He was capped by the England national team in 2001. Alex Rodrigo Dias da Costa (born 17 June 1982), known as Alex, is a Brazilian former professional footballer who played as a centre-back. André Antonius Maria Ooijer (born 11 July 1974) is a former Dutch footballer who played as a defender. He played his last professional game for Ajax against Vitesse on 6 May 2012. In an international career lasting over a decade with the Netherlands, he earned 55 caps. Heurelho da Silva Gomes (born 15 February 1981) is a Brazilian former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper.
