The 2005–2006 LEB season was the 10th season of the Liga Española de Baloncesto, second tier of the Spanish basketball. Liga Española De Baloncesto
The Liga Española de Baloncesto, also known as LEB Oro, is the second basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system after the Liga ACB. It is run by the FEB. The Liga Española de Baloncesto is divided into two categories (the other one is the LEB Plata). The LEB league was founded in 1996 and is played under FIBA rules. It was renamed LEB Oro in 2007. The league is contested by 18 clubs. Each season, the top-finishing team in the LEB Oro are automatically promoted to the Liga ACB. The teams that finish the season in 2nd to 9th place enter a playoff tournament, with the winner also gaining promotion to the Liga ACB. The three lowest-finishing teams in the LEB Oro are relegated to LEB Plata. A total of 78 teams have competed in LEB Oro since its inception in 1996. 19 teams have been crowned champions and 30 teams have gained promotion to Liga ACB, of which only five teams could not play in Liga ACB. Gijón Baloncesto
Gijón Baloncesto was a basketball team based in Gijón, Asturias, Spain. History Gijón Baloncesto was established in 1982, after taking over the franchise of another local team, Real Grupo de Cultura Covadonga, who was undergoing financial difficulties. In its first year, the club played in the third tier and immediately promoted to Primera División B, the second division in the Spanish league system. GB continued playing in the second tier from 1984 to 1995, when the club achieves promotion to Liga ACB after finishing runner-up of the 1994–95 Liga EBA and beating Lucentum in the semifinal game. The club only remained one season and could not avoid relegation by losing the relegation playoffs against Ourense by 1–3. From 1996 to 1999, Gijón Baloncesto played in the new second league: LEB. La 2 (, ''The Two'') is a Spanish free-to-air television channel owned and operated by Televisión Española (TVE), the television division of state-owned public broadcaster Radiotelevisión Española (RTVE). Club Baloncesto Ambroz Plasencia, more commonly referred to today by its sponsorship name of Plasencia Extremadura, is a Basketball team based in Plasencia, Extremadura. History Plasencia Ambroz was founded in 1978 as a merge of the clubs Centro Juventud and La Salle. CB Ciudad De Huelva
Club Baloncesto Ciudad de Huelva was a professional basketball team based in Huelva, Andalucia. The last season, (2007–08) the team played in LEB Oro. History CB Ciudad de Huelva was founded in 1996. In their first season, they win the LEB League and they are promoted to the 1996-97 ACB League. They only play one year and they are relegated in they play-out. Club Melilla Baloncesto is a professional basketball team based in Melilla that plays in the LEB league. This is the only team in Spain that played all LEB seasons. The team's home arena is the Pabellón Javier Imbroda Ortiz (formerly known as Ciudad de Melilla), with a capacity of up to 3,800 spectators. CE Lleida Bàsquet
Club Esportiu Ciutat i Provincia de Lleida Basquetbol is a professional basketball team based in Lleida, Catalonia, Spain and plays in the Barris Nord, in LEB Oro league. The club born in the summer of 1997 like a need of unify the basketball in Lleida, with the origin of Maristes team, that played in the Second National Division. The team spend two seasons in the EBA League linked by Bàsquet Manresa and under the name of Baró de Maials. Tenerife CB
Tenerife Club de Baloncesto was a professional basketball team based in Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain. History Tenerife CB was founded in 1996 after the fusion of some teams of the islands and debuts in LEB Oro in the 1996–97 season, the first of this league. In the 2002–03 season, Tenerife plays the FIBA Champions' Cup and reaches the second stage. In the same year, Tenerife CB becomes champion of the Copa Príncipe and promotes to Liga ACB, where plays two seasons before being relegated to LEB Oro. In summer of 2010, Tenerife CB renounces to its berth in LEB Oro due to financial problems and is relegated to Liga EBA. In the next summer and after reaching the promotion playoffs, Tenerife CB achieved a vacant berth to play in LEB Plata, the Spanish basketball third division. In 2013, the club was not allowed to play the lowest regional category in the Canary Islands.
