2005–06 Four Hills Tournament
The 54th edition of the annual Four Hills Tournament was held in the traditional venues: Oberstorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany, and Innsbruck and Bischofshofen in Austria. For the first and only time, the two ski jumpers at the top of the table shared exactly the same number of points after all four events. The competitors in question, Janne Ahonen and Jakub Janda, were both declared tournament winners. For Ahonen, it was the fourth tournament victory, equalizing the record of Jens Weißflog. He would surpass Weißflog and become the lone record holder two years later. Format At each of the four events, a qualification round would be held. The 50 best jumpers would qualify for the competition. The fifteen athletes leading the World Cup at the time would qualify automatically. Bischofshofen
Bischofshofen () is a town in the district of St. Johann im Pongau in the Austrian federal state of Salzburg. Martin Schmitt
Martin Schmitt (; born 29 January 1978) is a German former ski jumper who competed from 1997 to 2014. He is one of Germany's most successful ski jumpers, having won the World Cup twice; a gold medal at the Winter Olympics; four gold medals at the World Championships; and a ski flying world record. His and his countryman Sven Hannawald's success further popularized ski jumping in Germany, and with particular help from cable TV station RTL, their coverage received great acclaim in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Sigurd Pettersen
Sigurd Pettersen (born 28 February 1980) is a Norwegian former ski jumper. His greatest achievement is winning the 2003–04 Four Hills Tournament, with wins in Oberstdorf, Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Bischofshofen. Pettersen also won two bronze medals in the team large hill events at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships (2003, 2005) and had his best individual finish of 10th in the 2005 event. He won a gold medal in the team event at the FIS Ski-Flying World Championships 2004. Pettersen's best individual finish at the Winter Olympics was 24th in the individual large hill at Turin in 2006. He also has six individual career victories, all in the large hill, from 2002 to 2004. Pettersen's own ski club is ''Rollag og Veggli'' in Rollag, Norway. Primož Peterka
Primož Peterka () is a Slovenian former ski jumper who competed from 1996 to 2011. He is one of the most successful athletes from Slovenia, having won fifteen individual World Cup competitions, two consecutive overall World Cup titles, a Ski Flying World Cup title, and the Four Hills Tournament. Career Peterka started ski jumping on a small hill (with a K-point at around 20 metres) near his hometown of Moravče, a small town about 30 km northeast from Ljubljana. He later joined the Triglav ski club in Kranj. 1995–1996 Peterka made his World Cup debut on 4 January 1996. Due to the poor performance of Slovenian competitors at the time, Peterka was brought in as a replacement for the Four Hills Tournament event in Innsbruck, where he finished eighth. Peterka continued his good form, winning the competitions in Zakopane and Falun, and finished the season tenth overall. Robert Kranjec
Robert Kranjec (born 16 July 1981) is a Slovenian former ski jumper. Career Kranjec won a bronze medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City in the team large hill event. He won his first World Cup event at Kuusamo, Finland in 2005. In the following years he could not reach any top results except for ski flying competitions. In 2010 he celebrated his second World Cup victory at Tauplitz, Austria. After two more successful ski flying competitions at Tauplitz and Oberstdorf, in which he achieved the second place each time, he won the ski flying World Cup in the 2009–10 season. In 2012, he won the 2012 FIS Ski Flying World Championships and thus became the Slovenia's third World Champion in ski jumping and the first in ski flying. He also set a new national record. Thomas Morgenstern
Thomas Morgenstern (born 30 October 1986) is an Austrian former ski jumper who competed from 2002 to 2014. He is one of the most successful ski jumpers of all time, having won the World Cup overall title twice with 23 individual wins, the Four Hills Tournament and the Nordic Tournament once each, eight World Championship gold medals (one individual, seven team), and three Winter Olympic gold medals (one individual, two team). Lars Kristian Bystøl (born 4 December 1978) is a Norwegian former ski jumper who competed from 2002 to 2008. His career highlights include an individual gold medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics, one individual World Cup victory, a gold medal in the Ski Flying World Championships, and two World Championship bronze medals in team competitions. Career Bystøl won his first and only World Cup event on 4 January 2006, by winning the third event of the 2005–06 Four Hills Tournament in Innsbruck. Adam Henryk Małysz (; born 3 December 1977) is a Polish former ski jumper and rally driver. He competed in ski jumping from 1995 to 2011 and is one of the most successful athletes in the history of the sport. Michael "Michi" Uhrmann (born 16 September 1978) is a German former ski jumper who competed from 1994 to 2011. Career He competed in two Winter Olympics, winning a gold medal in the team large hill event at Salt Lake City in 2002, and a silver medal in the team large hill at Vancouver in 2010.
