Television In Ireland
Television in the Republic of Ireland is available through a variety of platforms. The digital terrestrial television service is known as Saorview and is the primary source of broadcast television since analogue transmissions ended on 24 October 2012. Digital satellite (from Sky Ireland, Saorsat and other European satellite service providers are available) and digital cable (from Virgin Media Ireland) are also widely used. The Irish satellite fill-in service (Saorsat) is via Ka-Sat using the Irish KA band spot and has been available since June 2011. While many people receive their television via Saorview, which is broadcast by 2RN, more than half subscribe to multichannel television networks. The biggest single multichannel television network in Ireland is Sky Ireland, which broadcasts digital satellite television services. Zombie Hotel
''Zombie Hotel'' is a France, French/Republic of Ireland, Irish Animated series, animated children's television series about a hotel run by zombies, created by Jan Van Rijsselberge, produced by French production company Alphanim (now called Gaumont Animation) and shown internationally. Premise The main characters are Fungus and Maggot, two child zombies who pretend to be human to get into their local school, and their family and boarders at the hotel run by their parents. They make friends with Sam, a human boy whose mother is away most of the time. Sam soon finds out about their zombie powers and all three make a team of friends. Sam uses an old railway carriage as his haunt. The plot often involves a risk of the discovery of Maggot's and Fungus's zombie nature and the three trying to prevent this. ''Paisean Faisean'' ("Fashion Passion") is an Irish language television dating show broadcast on TG4. It was presented in the first three series by Aoife Ní Thuairisg, and in the fourth series by Bláthnaid Nic Dhonnchadha and Mairéad Ní Chuaig. The fifth series saw Nic Dhonnchadha present alongside Síle Seoige. Format Magma films bought the format from Digital Rights Group with the line "Boys buy clothes for girls" from that Clodagh Freeman created the series. Magma films get a percentage of international rights as they bought the format from paper and brought it to the screen first. The format of the show traditionally involves three men choosing outfits for one woman – although the episode aired on 19 November 2007 featured four gay men. The Last Furlong is a short-lived Irish comedy-drama television series which was aired on RTÉ from 14 November to 19 December 2005. Originally created by Simon Delaney and co-written with director Kieran Carney, the series dealt with Diogo Bernardo Furlong (Simon Delaney), a Portuguese cabaret singer and songwriter, who travels to Ireland to scatter his mother's ashes over the grave of his Irish father. Plot The show centered on a Portuguese man seeking clues regarding his parent.
