2005 Major League Soccer Season
The 2005 Major League Soccer season was the tenth season of Major League Soccer. The season began on April 2, 2005, and concluded on November 13, 2005 with the first Supporters' Shield victory for the San Jose Earthquakes and a second MLS Cup victory for the Los Angeles Galaxy. Mauricio Navarro
Mauricio Navarro (born April 7, 1966) is a Canadian soccer referee. Navarro was born in Chile but later moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and became a Canadian citizen. He attained his FIFA badge in 2000 and went on to become one of Canada's most successful referees before retiring and the end of 2011, having reached the mandatory retirement age. Career After just one year on the FIFA list, Navarro was appointed to the 2001 Copa America, hosted in Colombia. He officiated just one match, the Group C opener between Bolivia and Uruguay, which Bolivia won 1-0. Navarro later described this match as one of the most difficult of his career. Fullerton ( ) is a city located in northern Orange County, California, United States. As of the 2020 census, the city had a total population of 143,617. Fullerton was founded in 1887. Titan Stadium is a 10,000-capacity multi-purpose stadium on the campus of California State University, Fullerton in Fullerton, California. History Scheduled to open in time for the 1991 football season, delays caused the opening date of Titan Stadium to be pushed back until 1992. Despite originally being planned as the home stadium for the Cal State Fullerton Titans football program, the delays in stadium construction put in question the possibility of the team actually taking the field. Budget cuts and strict NCAA regulations eventually signaled the end of the football program in 1992 after playing one season at the stadium. Clint Mathis
Clint Mathis (born November 25, 1976) is an American former professional soccer player who played as a forward or midfielder. He appeared at the 2002 FIFA World Cup, scoring one goal. He also played in Major League Soccer for the MetroStars, where he scored five goals during a game in August 2000, a league record. Youth and college Mathis was born in Conyers, Georgia and played club soccer at a young age for Rockdale Youth Soccer Association, and then for AFC Lightning, a Georgia powerhouse producing players such as former U.S. international Ricardo Clark, in Fayetteville. Chad Marshall (born August 22, 1984) is an American former professional soccer player. During his 16-year career, he played for Columbus Crew and Seattle Sounders FC in Major League Soccer. He was a three-time MLS Defender of the Year Award winner. Pat Noonan (born August 2, 1980) is an American soccer coach and former Association football, soccer player. He is the head coach of FC Cincinnati in Major League Soccer. Playing career College and amateur Noonan attended De Smet Jesuit High School, and played college soccer for the Indiana Hoosiers men's soccer, Indiana University Hoosiers from 1999 to 2002. He was named an NSCAA Division I First-Team All-American (soccer), first-team All-American his senior and junior seasons, and second-team All-American his sophomore year.
