2005 Women's NORCECA Volleyball Championship
The 2005 Women's NORCECA Volleyball Championship was the 19th edition of the Women's Continental Volleyball Tournament, played by eight countries from September 6 to September 11, 2005 in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. The United States won the event over Cuba and qualified for the 2005 Women's Volleyball Grand Champions Cup, later that year in Japan. Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago were the newcomers to this competition. The Dominican Republic won the bronze medal and Nancy Metcalf was awarded Most Valuable Player. Cindy Rondón
Cindy Carolina Rondón Martínez (born 12 November 1988 in Santo Domingo) is a volleyball player from the Dominican Republic, who twice won the bronze medal with the Dominican women's national team at the NORCECA Championship. Career 2005–2011 Playing as a middle blocker, Rondón was named "Best blocker" at the 2005 NORCECA Championship. She was signed by the Italian club BigMat Kerakoll Chieri and transferred on loan to Megius Padova. At the 2006 TV Azteca’s Women Stars Volleyball Cup, she won the "Best spiker" award and the gold medal with her team. She won the "Best blocker" of the 2007 season of the LVSF with Vaqueras de Bayamón and was also selected for the All-Star game. She played for Denso Airybees from 2007/2008 until 2008/2009, when she suffered an injury and had a vertebra replacement. Alexandra Caso
Alexandra Caso Sierra (born April 25, 1987) is a volleyball player from the Dominican Republic, who competed for her native country at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, wearing the number #6 jersey. There she ended up in eleventh place with the Dominican Republic women's national team. Caso played as a libero. Playing with the Dominican Republic U-18 National Team, she won the "Best Libero", and the silver medal at the 2002 NORCECA Girls Youth Continental Championship U-18. Zoila Barros Fernández (born 6 August 1979) is a retired Cuban female volleyball player who played as a middle blocker. She played for the Cuban women's national volleyball team, and helped the team win a gold medal in the 2000 Summer Olympics and a bronze medal in the 2004 Summer Olympics. Tayyiba Mumtaz Haneef-Park (born March 23, 1979) is a retired American indoor volleyball player. She played at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, where the team finished in 5th place. Haneef-Park also competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where she won a silver medal with team USA. After her pregnancy in 2010, she returned to Team USA to repeat their silver medal performance at the 2012 London Olympics. Both times USA lost to Brazil.
