2005 Rugby World Cup Sevens
The 2005 Rugby World Cup Sevens or the Melrose Cup was the fourth edition of the Rugby World Cup Sevens. The tournament was held in Hong Kong at Hong Kong Stadium. Fiji defeated New Zealand in the final to take the Melrose Cup for the second time, becoming the first team to win the competition twice. The Tournament broke all previous broadcast and attendance records, attracting a capacity audience of 120,000 spectators across for three competition days, while television coverage of the event reached over 450 million homes. Alasdair Strokosch
Alasdair Strokosch (born 21 February 1983, Paisley, Scotland) is a retired Scottish rugby union footballer who last played in the Pro D2 for USA Perpignan. He previously played for Gloucester in the Aviva Premiership and Edinburgh in the Pro12. He played as a flanker. Strokosch started his professional career with Edinburgh Rugby. Before his first professional contract he played with Boroughmuir and East Kilbride rugby clubs. Alexander Magleby (born February 19, 1978) is the CEO of the professional rugby union team, The New England Free Jacks. He is a former professional rugby union coach, and former United States national team player and captain. Playing career Magleby was selected to the US national rugby sevens team his senior year of Dartmouth College, subsequently starting at hooker from 2000 to 2005, and captaining the Eagles to the 2005 Rugby World Cup Sevens. Calum MacRae
Calum MacRae (born 26 January 1980 in Edinburgh, Scotland) is the defence coach for Benetton. He was head coach of the Scotland rugby 7s team 2014–2017. Playing career MacRae played rugby union as a centre and had also operated at fullback and fly-half. After age grade rugby he played for a four-year period on the IRB Sevens World Series along with playing in the Celtic league for the Borders. He played his final tournament for Scotland at the 2005 RWC Sevens in Hong Kong. Following this he was in Frank Hadden's Scotland Training Squad for a 4-year period, however, MacRae never gained full honours. His international 15's career mainly consisted of three consecutive Churchill Cup Tournaments. Laidlaw was appointed as New Zealand national rugby sevens team, All Blacks Sevens Head Coach in 2017. Roland Reid (born 13 September 1978) is a Scottish rugby union coach and former professional player. He played twice for in 2001, for Scotland 7s and played professional club rugby for Glasgow Warriors, London Irish, Leeds Tykes and Edinburgh. Colin Gregor (born 31 May 1981) is a retired Scottish rugby union player. He was the captain of the Scotland 7s team from 2009 to 2014. He is only the eighth player, and first Scot, to score over 1,000 points on the IRB Sevens World Series. He is one of only 13 in all forms of rugby. Andrew Turnbull (rugby Union)
Andrew Turnbull (born 5 April 1982, Edinburgh) is a retired Scottish rugby sevens player. Turnbull was educated at George Watson's College. He represented both Scotland and Great Britain at rugby sevens, including the 2006 Commonwealth Games, and scored more tries for Scotland in sevens than any other player, including 19 in 2005 and 118 tries on the HSBC Sevens World Series alone. Turnbull also played for Watsonians and the Scottish Institute of Sport, and played for Scotland U19, Scotland U21, and the Barbarian F.C.
