The 2005 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) rookie draft was an event at which teams drafted players from the amateur ranks. It was the first PBA Draft to feature only two rounds of drafting and the first draft held in August due to the league's adjustment of the season calendar. It was held on August 14, 2005 at the Sta. Barako Bull Energy Boosters (2000–11)
The Barako Bull Energy Boosters were a professional basketball team of the Philippine Basketball Association owned by the Photokina Marketing Corporation. They entered the league in 2000 after a successful stint in the semi-professional Philippine Basketball League during the late 1990s under the name Agfa Color where the team won a championship in 1996. It was originally known as Red Bull Barako before the team announced its name change. Barako Bull has won two Commissioner's Cups, in 2001 and in 2002 and the 2006 Fiesta Conference. Willie Miller became the first Barako to win the league MVP title in 2002. The franchise took a leave of absence after the 2010-11 PBA Philippine Cup. The San Miguel Beermen are a professional basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). It is one of three PBA clubs owned by the San Miguel Corporation group of companies along with the Magnolia Hotshots and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel. Michael Holper (born May 21, 1981) is a former Filipino-American professional basketball player. Born in Norfolk, Virginia, he last played for the San Miguel Beermen. He plays the power forward and center positions. Holper is known to be a defensive player. Career Holper had the most number of starts among rookies in the 2005–06 season with 35 and this showed the kind of trust by then Barangay Ginebra Kings coach Siot Tanquingcen gave to him. Holper was a reliable player especially in defense and rebounding. But because of nagging injuries, he was sidelined for most of the 2005–06 season with the Kings.
