2005 Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football Team
The 2005 Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team represented the University of Notre Dame in the 2005 NCAA Division I-A football season. The team was coached by Charlie Weis and played its home games at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Indiana. The Irish completed the season with a record of 9–3, culminating in an appearance in the Fiesta Bowl and a number 9 ranking in the nation. Charlie Weis
Charles Joseph Weis Sr. (born March 30, 1956) is a former American football coach. He was the head coach for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish from 2005 to 2009 and the Kansas Jayhawks from 2012 to 2014. He also served as an offensive coordinator in the National Football League for the New York Jets, New England Patriots, and Kansas City Chiefs. Weis currently hosts "Airing It Out," along with Bob Papa, on Sirius XM NFL Radio. Anthony Fasano
Anthony Joseph Fasano (born April 20, 1984) is a former American football tight end. He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft. He played college football at Notre Dame. Fasano also played for the Kansas City Chiefs, Tennessee Titans, and Miami Dolphins. Asaph Schwapp
Asaph Daniel Schwapp (January 26, 1987 – May 8, 2013) was an American fullback. Schwapp was born and raised in Hartford, Connecticut. He played high school football at Weaver High School in Hartford where he earned first team all-state honors and named Gatorade Player of the Year in Connecticut in 2004 as a junior. He also played inside linebacker. He attended and played football at The University of Notre Dame. He entered the NFL signing as an undrafted free agent by the Dallas Cowboys in 2009 but was cut before the regular season began. In 2010, he signed with the Hartford Colonials. David Lee Bruton Jr. (born July 23, 1987) is a former American football strong safety and special teamer. He was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Ryan Grant (running Back)
Ryan Brett Grant (born December 9, 1982) is a former American football running back in the National Football League (NFL). Grant played college football at Notre Dame where he rushed for over 1,000 yards in his only year as the starting running back. He originally signed with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2005 but never played a game for them. Shortly before the 2007 season, Grant was traded to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for a future sixth-round draft pick. He would go on to play for the Packers for six seasons.
