Parliamentary elections were held in Moldova on 6 March 2005.Dieter Nohlen & Philip Stöver (2010) ''Elections in Europe: A data handbook'', p1330 The result was a victory for the Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova (PCRM), which won 56 of the 101 seats.Nohlen & Stöver, p1342 Electoral system The Parliament was elected by proportional representation in a single national constituency. In 2002 the electoral law was amended to change the electoral threshold, which had previously been at 3% for independent candidates and 6% for political parties and electoral blocs.Nohlen & Stöver, p1322 For electoral blocs of two parties it was raised to 9%, and for blocs of three or more, it was raised to 12%. Christian-Democratic People's Party (Moldova)
The Christian-Democratic People's Party ( ro, Partidul Popular Creștin Democrat, PPCD) is a Christian-democratic political party in Moldova. The party was led by Iurie Roșca from 1994 until 2011. Until 2005, the PPCD and the (Moldovan) National Liberal Party were the main political organizations in the country supporting the unification of Moldova and Romania. After the PPCD began supporting the anti-unification Communist President Vladimir Voronin, the party has lost its unionist credentials while other parties such as the Liberal Party have taken over the pro-Romanian ideological space. The Republican Party of Moldova ( ro, Partidul Republican din Moldova) is a political party in Moldova. History Republican Party of Moldova (RPM) was established on 15 August 1999. The Founding Congress adopted the party program and bylaws and elected the governing bodies, including the Party Chairperson, Ion Curtean. In the 5 April 2009 legislative elections, it did not pass the election threshold as it polled 0.09% of the vote.
