2005 IAAF World Cross Country Championships – Senior Men's Race
The Senior men's race at the 2005 IAAF World Cross Country Championships was held at the Hippodrome Joseph Desjoyaux in Saint-Galmier near Saint-Étienne, France, on March 20, 2005. Reports of the event were given in ''The New York Times'', in the Herald, and for the IAAF. Complete results for individuals, for teams, medallists, and the results of British athletes who took part were published. IAAF
World Athletics, formerly known as the International Amateur Athletic Federation (from 1912 to 2001) and International Association of Athletics Federations (from 2001 to 2019, both abbreviated as the IAAF) is the international governing body for the sport of athletics, covering track and field, cross country running, road running, race walking, mountain running, and ultra running. Included in its charge are the standardization of rules and regulations for the sports, certification of athletic facilities, recognition and management of world records, and the organisation and sanctioning of athletics competitions, including the World Athletics Championships. Boniface Kiprop
Boniface Toroitich Kiprop (born 12 October 1985 in Kapchorwa District) is a track and field athlete from Uganda. His older brother Martin Toroitich is also a runner, who has featured at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships. Boniface Kiprop is coached by Giuseppe Giambrone and he is actually making part of the Tuscany Training Camp project. Career At the 2001 African Junior Championships in Mauritius, he competed in the 5000 and 10000 metres, finishing 1st and 2nd respectively. Two years later the championships were held in Cameroon, and he won both events. At the 2003 All-Africa Games he finished 4th in 10000 metres and 6th in 5000 metres. At the 2003 World Championships in Paris he missed the 5000 metres final. However, he won a bronze medal in the 10,000 m at the 2003 Afro-Asian Games. Tesfayohannes Mesfin (born November 24, 1974) is an Eritrean runner who specializes in the half marathon and cross-country running. He has several top-25 placements in global competitions. At the 2004 World Cross Country Championships he finished 22nd in the long race and also won a bronze medal with the Eritrean team. He followed up with a 20th place at the 2005 World Cross Country Championships and a ninth place at the 2006 World Cross Country Championships. He finished 21st at the 2004 World Half Marathon Championships, 12th at the 2005 World Half Marathon Championships (team silver medal) and 21st at the 2006 World Road Running Championships (team silver medal). Moses Mosop
Moses Cheruiyot Mosop (born 7 July 1985) is a Kenyan middle and long distance athlete. He competed for Kenya at the 2004 Olympic Games and went on to take 10,000 metres bronze at the 2005 World Championships in Athletics. He has also been successful in cross country running, having won the silver at the 2007 IAAF World Cross Country Championships as well as team gold with Kenya in 2007 and 2009. Until 2014-09-30, Mosop was managed by Jos Hermens and coached by Renato Canova. At the 2011-04-18 Boston Marathon, Mosop and countryman Geoffrey Mutai ran what at the time were the fastest times ever recorded for a marathon – 2:03:06 and 2:03:02, respectively – shattering the Boston course record by nearly three minutes. Samson Kiflemariam Gashazghi (born 23 January 1984) is an Eritrean long-distance runner who specializes in the 5000 metres, cross-country running, but as mountain runner he won 2010 World Mountain Running Championships. Biography He was born in Quazien. As a junior, he competed in the junior races at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships, finishing 19th in 2002 and 24th in 2003. He finished tenth in the 10,000 metres at the 2002 World Junior Championships and twelfth in the same event at the 2002 African Championships. Serhiy Lebid or Serhii Lebid ( uk, Сергій Лебідь; born 15 July 1975 in Dnipropetrovsk) is a Ukrainian long-distance runner. Career He has won the European Cross Country championships on nine occasions, winning in 1998, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2010. Gamal Belal Salem (born Kipkemoi Katui on 12 September 1978 in Eldoret, Kenya) is a Qatari runner who specializes in the 3000 metres steeplechase, training with the world record holder Saif Saaeed Shaheen under the Italian coach Renato Canova. He has represented Qatar at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships on numerous occasions, including two team bronze medals at the 2005 competition and one at the 2008 competition.
