2005 America East Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2005 America East men's basketball tournament was held from March 4–6 at the Binghamton University Events Center. The final was held on March 12, at Patrick Gym on the campus of the University of Vermont. Vermont gained its third consecutive berth to the NCAA tournament with its win over Northeastern. Vermont was given the 13th seed in the Austin Regional of the NCAA Tournament and lost in the second round to Michigan State 72–61, after upsetting #4 Syracuse 60–57 in overtime. Both Boston University and Northeastern gained a bid to the NIT and lost in the first round to Georgetown and Memphis respectively. 2004–05 Vermont Catamounts Men's Basketball Team
The 2004–05 Vermont Catamounts men's basketball team represented the University of Vermont during the 2004–05 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Catamounts, led by head coach Tom Brennan – coaching in his 19th and final season, played their home games at Patrick Gym and were members of the America East Conference. They finished the season 25–7, 16–2 in America East play to win the regular season conference title. They followed that success by winning the America East tournament to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. UMBC Retrievers
The UMBC Retrievers are the athletic teams that represent the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, located in Catonsville, Maryland, in intercollegiate athletics as a member of the Division I level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), primarily competing in the America East Conference since the 2003–04 academic year. America East Conference
The America East Conference is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with NCAA Division I founded in 1979, whose members are located in the Northeastern United States. The conference has nine core members including eight public research universities, three of which, the University of Maine, the University of New Hampshire, and the University of Vermont, are the flagship universities of their states. Maine Black Bears
The Maine Black Bears are the athletic teams that represent the University of Maine. A member of the America East Conference, the University of Maine sponsors teams in eight men's and nine women's NCAA sanctioned sports. The Boston University Terriers are the ten men's and fourteen women's varsity athletic teams representing Boston University in NCAA Division I competition. Boston University's team nickname is the Terriers, and the official mascot is Rhett the Boston Terrier. The school colors are Scarlet and White. Northeastern Huskies
The Northeastern Huskies are the athletic teams representing Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. They compete in thirteen varsity team sports: men's and women's hockey (in Hockey East); men's baseball, men's and women's basketball, women's field hockey and volleyball, swimming, and men's and women's soccer (in the Colonial Athletic Association), and men's and women's rowing, track and cross-country. The Albany Great Danes men's basketball team is the basketball team that represent the University at Albany, State University of New York in Albany, New York. The Hartford Hawks are the NCAA Division I athletic teams of the University of Hartford, located in West Hartford, Connecticut. Hartford sponsors teams in eight men's and nine women's NCAA sanctioned sports. The men's and women's tennis teams were discontinued at the end of the 2016 season, and women's lacrosse was added. Overview On May 6, 2021, the University of Hartford Board of Regents voted to drop its athletic department to Division III. Tom Brennan (born May 2, 1949) is a radio and television sportscaster and former men's basketball head coach at the University of Vermont from 1986 to 2005. Coaching career Raised in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, Brennan graduated as the all-time leading scorer at Phillipsburg Catholic High School. Brennan graduated from the University of Georgia in 1971, where, as a senior, he received the men's basketball team leadership award. He began his coaching after graduating in the fall of 1971 as a graduate assistant at Georgia under Ken Rosemond.
