The 2004–05 Russian Superleague season was the ninth season of the Russian Superleague, the top level of ice hockey in Russia. 16 teams participated in the league, and HC Dynamo Moscow won the championship. Russian Superleague
The Russian Superleague (russian: Чемпионат России Суперлига, ''Russian Championship Superleague''), commonly abbreviated as RSL, was the highest division of the main professional ice hockey league in Russia. It was considered the second best league in the world, after the National Hockey League (NHL) of North America. It was a part of the Russian Pro Hockey League which was composed of three divisions — the Superleague, Major League (''Vysshaya Liga''), and First League (''Pervaya Liga''). The league was rebranded after the 2007/2008 season as the KHL. The KHL absorbed all 20 teams from the previous RSL season, for a total of 24 for its inaugural campaign. HC Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk (russian: Нефтехимик Нижнекамск, en, Nizhnekamsk Petrochemist) is a professional ice hockey team based in Nizhnekamsk, in the Tatarstan, a federal subject of the Russian Federation. They are members of the Kharlamov Division in the Kontinental Hockey League. History Neftekhimik was founded October 23, 1968 by workers of the Nizhnekamsk Petrochemical plant to represent Nizhnekamsk in the Tatar ASSR ice hockey championship. HC Spartak Moscow
HC Spartak Moscow (russian: ХК Спартак Москва, en, Spartak Moskva) is a professional ice hockey team based in Moscow, Russia. They played in the Tarasov Division of the Kontinental Hockey League during the 2013–14 KHL season, 2013–14 season. However, the team did not participate in the KHL league for the 2014–15 KHL season, 2014–15 season because of financial issues, but rejoined the league prior to the 2015–16 KHL season, 2015–16 season as members of the Bobrov Division. Hockey Club Sibir Novosibirsk Oblast (russian: ХК Сибирь, en, Siberia HC), also known as HC Sibir or Sibir Novosibirsk, is a Russian professional ice hockey team based in Novosibirsk. They are members of the Chernyshev Division in the Kontinental Hockey League. History Ice hockey was introduced to Novosibirsk in 1948 by Ivan Tsyba, who returned from a hockey seminar in Moscow with equipment to play the sport. Immediately popular amongst the populace, the local sports society, Dynamo, decided to establish a hockey team. The first hockey rink was built in autumn 1948 near the Ob River. A second rink was built in February 1949, at the Spartak Stadium. Several teams played in Novosibirsk in this era, the strongest being Dynamo. SKA St
Ska (; ) is a music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1950s and was the precursor to rocksteady and reggae. Severstal Cherepovets
Hockey Club Severstal is a professional ice hockey team based in Cherepovets, Vologda Oblast, Russia. They are members of the Tarasov Division in the Kontinental Hockey League. History Founded in 1956, the club was originally known as Stroitel (Builder) Cherepovets. The name was changed to Metallurg (Metallurgist) Cherepovets in 1959. During the Soviet times, Metallurg played in the low and mid-level divisions of the ice hockey championship. But since the 1990s, not without the financial support of its parent company Severstal (Northsteel), the club joined the ranks of the major professional teams starting with the first season of the then newly established International Hockey League. Metallurg Novokuznetsk (russian: Металлург Новокузнецк) is a professional ice hockey team from Siberia based in Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo Oblast, Russia. They are currently members of the Supreme Hockey League (VHL). History The team was founded in 1949 in Novokuznetsk (then Stalinsk) to compete in the lower divisions of the Soviet ice hockey championship. During the 1960s, Metallurg managed to advance to the elite group for several seasons, but did not establish itself as a major club until the 1990s when the International Hockey League was formed. During the first years of the post-Soviet era, Novokuznetsk significantly improved its roster with players from the Ust-Kamenogorsk school.
