2004–05 Orlando Magic Season
The 2004–05 season was the 16th season of the Orlando Magic in the National Basketball Association (NBA). After finishing the previous year with a league-worst 21–61 record, the Magic won the NBA Draft Lottery for the third time in franchise history, and selected high school star Dwight Howard with the first overall pick in the 2004 NBA draft. During the offseason, the Magic acquired All-Star guard Steve Francis and Cuttino Mobley from the Houston Rockets, and signed free agent Hedo Turkoglu. The team looked to be a playoff contender playing above .500 for the first half of the season. In January, Mobley was traded to the Sacramento Kings for Doug Christie. However, head coach Johnny Davis was fired after a 31–33 start, and was replaced with Chris Jent. Johnny Davis (basketball, Born 1955)
Johnny Reginald Davis (born October 21, 1955) is an American former professional basketball player and coach in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played in the NBA with four teams in ten years from 1976 to 1986, winning an NBA championship in his rookie season (1976–77) with the Portland Trail Blazers. He also played for the Indiana Pacers, the Atlanta Hawks, and the Cleveland Cavaliers. In 1996–97 NBA season Davis coached the Philadelphia 76ers, and he coached the Orlando Magic for nearly two seasons from 2003 to 2005. On June 21, 2007, he was named assistant coach by new Grizzlies head coach Marc Iavaroni. Grant Hill
Grant Henry Hill (born October 5, 1972) is an American former professional basketball player who is a co-owner and executive of the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He attended Duke University and is widely considered one of its greatest players. After playing college basketball for four years, Hill played in the NBA for four teams in his professional career: the Detroit Pistons, the Orlando Magic, the Phoenix Suns, and the Los Angeles Clippers. For most of his career, he played the small forward position. Hill also works as a basketball analyst for CBS and Turner Sports. Hill played basketball for the Duke Blue Devils for four years. 2004–05 Atlanta Hawks Season
The 2004–05 NBA season was the Hawks' 56th season in the National Basketball Association, and 37th season in Atlanta. In the 2004 NBA draft, the Hawks selected Josh Childress from Stanford with the sixth pick, and high school star Josh Smith with the seventeenth pick. During the off-season, the team hired Mike Woodson as head coach and acquired All-Star forward Antoine Walker, and Tony Delk from the Dallas Mavericks, Al Harrington from the Indiana Pacers, and Predrag Drobnjak from the expansion Charlotte Bobcats. The team also signed free agents Kenny Anderson, re-signed Jon Barry and former Hawks forward Kevin Willis. Morlon Wiley
Morlon David Wiley (born September 24, 1966) is an American former professional basketball player and former assistant coach for the National Basketball Association's Orlando Magic. College career Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Wiley played college basketball at Long Beach State, where he was a four-year starter for the 49ers. In 1988, he was an all-Big West Conference pick, and his leadership led to the school's first NIT appearance. In his college career, he scored 30 points on six occasions, is third on the all-time list in assists with 425, second in steals with 187, and fourth in free throw percentage with .780. Paul Westhead
Paul William Westhead (born February 21, 1939) is an American Retired basketball coach. He was the head coach for three National Basketball Association (NBA) teams and an assistant for four others, and also coached in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA), American Basketball Association (ABA), and Japan Basketball League (JBL). In his first year as an NBA head coach, he led a rookie Magic Johnson and the Los Angeles Lakers to the 1980 NBA Finals, which they won in six games for the team's first title in eight years. Clifford Ray
Clifford Ray (born January 21, 1949) is an American former professional basketball coach and player who is a consultant for the Houston Rockets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played three of his ten seasons in the NBA with the Chicago Bulls from 1971 to 1974, and the other seven with the Golden State Warriors from 1974 to 1981. Career Ray played his college basketball at the University of Oklahoma, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (he can play most woodwind instruments). Washington Union High School is a high school in the rural community of Easton in Fresno County, California. Founded in 1892 (and first accredited in 1965), Washington Union is most likely the second oldest high school in Fresno County (Fresno High School being established three years earlier in 1889). Memphis Tigers Men's Basketball
The Memphis Tigers men's basketball team represents the University of Memphis in NCAA Division I men's college basketball. The Tigers have competed in the American Athletic Conference since 2013. As of 2020, the Tigers had the 26th highest winning percentage in NCAA history. Antonio Cornell Burks (born February 25, 1980) is an American former professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and Europe. At 6'0" (1.83 m), he played as a guard. Burks played at Booker T. Washington High School in Memphis, then one year at Hiwassee Junior College in Madisonville, Tennessee before joining the University of Memphis as an invited walk-on. He helped the Tigers win the NIT in 2002. His senior year he was named the Conference USA player of the year. The Liga ACB, known as Liga Endesa for sponsorship reasons, is the top professional basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system.
