The 2004–05 Ivy League men's basketball season was the Ivy League's 51st season of basketball. The team with the best record (Penn Quakers) progressed to play in the 2005 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament. It would be their 23rd NCAA tournament appearance. Ivy League
The Ivy League is an American collegiate athletic conference comprising eight private research universities in the Northeastern United States. The term ''Ivy League'' is typically used beyond the sports context to refer to the eight schools as a group of elite colleges with connotations of academic excellence, selectivity in admissions, and social elitism. Its members are Brown University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Harvard University, Princeton University, University of Pennsylvania, and Yale University. While the term was in use as early as 1933, it became official only after the formation of the athletic conference in 1954. Dartmouth Big Green Men's Basketball
The Dartmouth Big Green men's basketball program is the intercollegiate men's basketball program of Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. The program is classified in the NCAA Division I and the team competes in the Ivy League. They play their home games at Leede Arena and are coached by David McLaughlin. The Big Green have not had a winning record since going 14–12 in the 1998–99 season. Joseph Winston Scott (born July 28, 1965) is an American college basketball coach who is currently in his second stint as the head coach at Air Force. Scott previously was head coach at Air Force once before, as well as at Princeton and Denver. Early life and education Growing up on Pelican Island near Toms River, New Jersey, Scott played baseball, basketball and football at Toms River High School East, where he set the school's basketball career scoring record. Scott played at point guard in high school and set a school record for career basketball points with 1,550. As a player in the mid-1980s, Scott learned the " Princeton offense," a methodical system that seeks high-percentage shots by passing until the right opportunity rather than a fast-pace offense with more shots. The Princeton Tigers men's basketball team is the intercollegiate men's basketball program representing Princeton University. James Fitzgerald Jones (born February 20, 1964) is an American men's college basketball coach who is the head coach at Yale University. Born in Long Island, Jones played college basketball at SUNY Albany and worked as a sales executive for NCR Corporation before beginning his coaching career. 2005 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament
The 2005 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament involved 65 schools playing in single-elimination play to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division I college basketball.
