FINA Swimming World Cup
The FINA Swimming World Cup is an international series of short course () swimming meets organized by FINA, the International Federation for swimming. Launched in 1988, the FINA Swimming World Cup gathers world-class swimmers in a series of two-day meets organised between August and November each year. Across nine locations, the circuit is structured in clusters (Middle East, Europe and Asia) and distributes a total of prize money reaching US$2.5 million. Currently, the overall first, second, and third-place winners are awarded prize money. The men's and women's series winners take home $150,000 each, runners-up $100,000, and third-place finishers $50,000, following a prize-money increase announced by FINA in September 2017. Events The events are the same for all meets, but the competition order may vary. Sophie Edington
Sophie Jane Edington (born 12 December 1984) is an Australian backstroke and freestyle swimmer. Biography Edington trained at the Kingscliff ASC club under Greg Salter. After Salter took up an overseas coaching role Edington moved to Queensland to train under the QAS program from the end of 2008. In 2010, she moved to Melbourne where she trained at MSAC. At the 2005 World Aquatics Championships in Montréal she won two gold medals, with the backstroke leg in 4×100-metre medley relay, and as a heat swimmer in the 4×100-metre freestyle relay. She won three gold medals at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne: 50-metre and 100-metre backstroke, and the 4×100-metre medley relay in world record time of 3:56.30 seconds with teammates Leisel Jones, Libby Lenton and Jessicah Schipper. Yury Aleksandrovich Prilukov (russian: Юрий Александрович Прилуков; born 14 June 1984) is a freestyle swimmer from Russia, who specializes in long distance swimming. Prilukov was born in Sverdlovsk. He is a five-time European champion (long course), eight-time European champion (short course) and five-time World Short Course Champion and has also set three European records. At the 2004 Summer Olympics Prilukov finished sixth in the 400 meters freestyle and fourth in the 1500 metres freestyle. Lindsay Dianne Benko (born November 29, 1976), also known by her married name as Lindsay Mintenko, is an American former competition swimmer, Olympic gold medalist, and former world record-holder. She represented the United States at the 2000 Summer Olympics and 2004 Summer Olympics. She held the short-course world record in the 400-meter freestyle (at 3:59.53) for nearly three years from January 2003 to December 2005. Kaitlin Shea Sandeno (born March 13, 1983) is an American former competition swimmer who is an Olympic gold medalist, world champion and former world record-holder. Sandeno was a member of the American team that set a new world record in the 4×200-meter freestyle relay at the 2004 Summer Olympics. She is the current general manager of DC Trident which is a part of the International Swimming League. Yang Yu (; born February 6, 1985, in Hangzhou, Zhejiang) is an Olympic medal-winning swimmer from the People's Republic of China. She made her international swimming debut in 1991 for Czechoslovakia, and has gone on to compete in five consecutive Summer Olympics (1992–2008). Aleksandr Vladimirovich Popov (Russian: Алекса́ндр Влади́мирович Попо́в, born 16 November 1971), better known as Alexander Popov, is a former Russian swimmer.
