2003–04 Iowa State Cyclones Men's Basketball Team
The 2003–04 Iowa State Cyclones men's basketball team represents Iowa State University during the 2003–04 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Cyclones were coached by Wayne Morgan, who was in his 1st season. They played their home games at Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa, and competed in the Big 12 Conference. Previous season The Cyclones finished 17–14, 5–11 in Big 12 play to finish 9th the regular season conference standings. They lost to Kansas in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tournament. They received an at-large bid to the NIT tournament where they defeated Wichita State and lost to Iowa. Wayne Morgan (basketball)
Wayne Morgan (born October 7, 1950) was the Iowa State University men's basketball coach from 2003 to 2006. He was Iowa State University's first African-American head basketball coach. Career Morgan was a coach at Syracuse under Jim Boeheim until 1996. He coached at California State University, Long Beach, Long Beach State for six seasons before accepting the head coaching position at Iowa State. In three years at Iowa State, Morgan had a combined record of 55-39, marking his record fourth to Larry Eustachy (72-26, two NCAA tournament appearances, one Elite eight appearance), Tim Floyd (69-29, twice second round of NCAA tourney), and Fred Hoiberg (62-39, two round of 32 NCAA tournament appearances) in the history of Iowa State University basketball coaches finishing their third year. Will Blalock
William Anthony Blalock (born September 8, 1983 in Boston) is a former American professional basketball player, who last played for the Saint John Mill Rats of the National Basketball League of Canada. Early years Blalock played basketball at East Boston High School, but later graduated from Notre Dame Preparatory School in 2003. He then attended Iowa State University and played for the Cyclones from 2003 to 2006, making one NCAA Tournament appearance in 2005, playing under coach Wayne Morgan.
