2002 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship Game
The 2002 NCAA Division I women's basketball championship game was the final game of the 2002 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament. It determined the champion of the 2001–02 NCAA Division I women's basketball season and was contested by the 2001–02 Connecticut Huskies women's basketball team, Connecticut Huskies and the 2001–02 Oklahoma Sooners women's basketball team, Oklahoma Sooners. The game was played on March 31, 2002, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. After leading 42–30 at halftime, No. 1 UConn defeated No. 4 Oklahoma 82–70 to capture the program's third National championship, and complete the fourth unbeaten season in women's NCAA history (Texas, 1986; Connecticut, 1995; Tennessee, 1998). Sherri Coale
Sherri Kay Coale (; Born on January 19, 1965) is a retired college basketball coach. She was the head coach of the Oklahoma Sooners women's basketball, University of Oklahoma Sooners women's basketball team for 25 years, from 1996 to 2021. Coale was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016. Personal Coale grew up in Healdton, Oklahoma and married Dane Scott Coale (born 1964) on June 20, 1987. Man-to-man Defense
Man-to-man defense, or man defense, is a type of defensive system used in team sports such as American football, association football, basketball and netball, as in which each player is assigned to defend and follow the movements of a single player on offense. Often, a player guards his counterpart (e.g. center guarding center), but a player may be assigned to guard a different position. However, the strategy is not rigid, and a player might switch assignment if needed, or leave his own assignment for a moment to double team an offensive player. Tamika Williams-Jeter (born Tamika Maria Williams; April 12, 1980) is the head women's basketball coach at the University of Dayton. She was a professional basketball player for the Minnesota Lynx and the Connecticut Sun in the WNBA. Rosalind Chanette Ross (January 17, 1980 – September 15, 2010) was a basketball player drafted by the Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA. On September 15, 2010, she was shot and killed by her long time partner. Career Ross was a standout player at Milwaukee Technical High School. The 2001–02 Iowa Hawkeyes women's basketball team represented the University of Iowa as members of the Big Ten Conference during the 2001–02 NCAA women's basketball season. The Hawkeyes, led by second-year head coach Lisa Bluder, played their home games in Iowa City, Iowa, at Carver–Hawkeye Arena.
