2002 Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship
The 2002 Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship was the 108th staging of the Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Kilkenny County Board. O'Loughlin Gaels were the defending champions. On 27 October 2002, Young Irelands won the title after a 3–14 to 1–15 defeat of Dunnamaggin in the final at Nowlan Park. It was their second championship title overall and their first title in six championship seasons. It remains their last championship triumph. Adrian Ronan
Adrian Ronan (born 8 June 1970) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a full-forward for the Kilkenny senior team. Born in Ballycallan, County Kilkenny, Ronan first played competitive hurling during his schooling at St. Kieran's College. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first lined up with the Kilkenny minor team before later joining the under-21 side. He made his senior debut during the 1988-89 league. Ronan went on to become a regular member of the starting fifteen and won two All-Ireland medals, three Leinster medal and one National Hurling League medal. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. As a member of the Leinster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions, Ronan won one Railway Cup medal. Ken O'Shea
Kenneth Patrick O'Shea (born 23 March 1976) is an Irish former hurler. At club level he played with Dunnamaggin and was also a member of the Kilkenny senior hurling team. He usually lined out in the forwards. Career O'Shea first came to prominence at juvenile and underage levels with the Dunnamaggin club before quickly joining the club's top adult team. After consecutive junior and intermediate successes, he went on to win a County Senior Championship title in 1997. O'Shea first appeared on the inter-county scene with the Kilkenny minor team that won the Leinster Minor Championship in 1994. He enjoyed an unsuccessful tenure with the Kilkenny under-21 team and was on the Kilkenny junior team that lost the 1996 All-Ireland final to Galway. Erin's Own Gaelic Athletic Association was founded in 1885 and since then has been the main sporting organization in the Castlecomer area in County Kilkenny, Ireland. Erin's Own fielded teams in 11 different grades of hurling and in 7 grades of gaelic football in 2006, and is currently undertaking major development at its new ground, Canon Kearns Park. With a membership of about 20 adults and about 100 youths the club is in the enviable position of having two properties, the first, The Prince Grounds, in the town, and the second, Canon Kearns Park, on the outskirts of the town, towards Kilkenny. Glenmore is a Gaelic Athletic Association club situated in the south of County Kilkenny, Ireland. The club was founded in 1888 and has achieved hurling success at county, provincial and national level. Glenmore has also provided the Kilkenny intercounty team with several top players. History Glenmore first distinguished itself in Kilkenny on the football field, and it was only in the 1940s that hurling started to take over. Early success came in 1953, when the hurlers won the County Junior Championship. By the 1960s, Glenmore were among the top sides in the county, narrowly losing out to Bennettsbridge in the 1960 and 1964 county finals.
