2001–02 Murray State Racers Men's Basketball Team
The 2001–02 Murray State Racers men's basketball team represented Murray State University during the 2001–02 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Racers, led by fourth-year head coach Tevester Anderson, played their home games at the Regional Special Events Center in Murray, Kentucky, as members of the Ohio Valley Conference. They finished the season 19–13, 10–6 in OVC play to end the regular season in third place. They defeated to win the OVC tournament to advance to the NCAA tournament. As No. 14 seed in the East region, the Racers were beaten by No. 3 seed Georgia, 85–68, in the opening round. Tevester Anderson
Tevester Anderson (born February 25, 1937) is a retired American college basketball coach and former men's basketball head coach at Jackson State University and Murray State University. He is a native of Canton, Mississippi. Anderson earned his bachelor's degree in pre-medicine from Arkansas AM&N University (now University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff) in 1962 and, in 1971, earned his master's degree in biological science from North Carolina A&T State University North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (also known as North Carolina A&T State University, North Carolina A&T, N.C. 2001–02 Louisville Cardinals Men's Basketball Team
The 2001–02 Louisville Cardinals men's basketball team represented the University of Louisville in the 2001–02 NCAA Division I men's basketball season, the 88th season of interleague play for the Cardinals. The head coach was Rick Pitino and the team finished the season with an overall record of 19–13. Their longest winning streak was an 8-game streak and the Cardinals never lost more than 3 games in a row. This was Pitino's first season as Louisville's head coach. Pitino replaced Denny Crum at the end of the 2000–01 season and he made his coaching debut for the Cardinals on October 31, 2001, in an exhibition match against EA Sports with an 81–63 victory. The Murray State Racers are the athletic teams that represent Murray State University (MSU), located in Murray, Kentucky, United States, in intercollegiate sports as a member of the NCAA Division I ranks (for football, the Football Championship Subdivision), primarily competing in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) since the 2022–23 academic year. United Center
United Center is an indoor arena on the Near West Side of Chicago, Illinois, United States. It is home to the Chicago Bulls of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL). It is named after its corporate sponsor United Airlines, which has been based in Chicago since 2007. Kentucky International Convention Center
The Kentucky International Convention Center (KICC), formerly called the Commonwealth Convention Center, is a large multi-use facility in Louisville, Kentucky, United States. The KICC, along with the Kentucky Exposition Center, hosts conventions for the Louisville area. It was built on the site of the Tyler Block and opened in 1977. The facility underwent a major renovation from 2016 to 2018, seeking more space and a more inviting presence. While the convention center does not have a permanent arena, it has hosted various sporting events, including the 2002 Ohio Valley Conference men's basketball tournament and the NCAA Division II men's basketball tournament from 1995 to 2000. Allstate Arena is a multi-purpose arena in Rosemont, Illinois, United States. It is located near the intersection of Mannheim Road and Interstate 90, adjacent to the city limits of Chicago and O'Hare International Airport.
