2001–02 Los Angeles Clippers Season
The 2001–02 NBA season was the Clippers' 32nd season in the National Basketball Association and their 18th season in Los Angeles. The Clippers selected high school basketball star Tyson Chandler with the second overall pick in the 2001 NBA draft, but soon traded him to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for Elton Brand. With the acquisition of Brand and the continued improvements of second-year guard Quentin Richardson, Corey Maggette and Michael Olowokandi, the Clippers played their best basketball with a 15–11 start as of December 22. The team began to slip under .500, but still played competitive basketball through most of the first half holding a 25–26 record at the All-Star break, despite Lamar Odom only playing just 29 games due to a wrist injury, and second-year guard Keyon Dooling only playing just 14 games due to an ankle injury. Alvin Gentry
Alvin Harris Gentry (born November 5, 1954) is an American professional basketball coach. A former college basketball player, Gentry has led six different NBA teams. He served as an interim head coach for the Miami Heat at the end of the 1994–95 season, and later coached the Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Clippers, Phoenix Suns, New Orleans Pelicans and Sacramento Kings. He currently serves as the vice president of basketball engagement for the Sacramento Kings. Vinny Del Negro
Vincent Joseph Del Negro (born August 9, 1966) is an American former professional basketball player. He was the head coach of the National Basketball Association's Chicago Bulls from 2008 to 2010, and the Los Angeles Clippers from 2010 to 2013. Del Negro is currently an analyst with NBA TV. Morris McHone
Morris Daniel "Mo" McHone (born June 17, 1943) is a former coach for the Sioux Falls Skyforce, a professional team in the NBA Development League. He is also a former NBA basketball coach and assistant coach. Career McHone served as an assistant coach for the San Antonio Spurs for several seasons under coach Stan Albeck, replacing him in 1983 when Albeck took a job with the New Jersey Nets. However, McHone only lasted 31 games, and was fired midway through the season after posting an 11-20 record. He was replaced by then-GM Bob Bass. Rex Kalamian
Rex Kalamian is an American professional basketball coach who serves as assistant coach for the Detroit Pistons of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the head coach for the Armenia men's national basketball team. He previously had coaching terms with the Los Angeles Clippers, Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Sacramento Kings, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Toronto Raptors. Dennis Johnson
Dennis Wayne Johnson (September 18, 1954 – February 22, 2007), nicknamed "DJ", was an American professional basketball player for the National Basketball Association's (NBA) Seattle SuperSonics, Phoenix Suns, and Boston Celtics. He was a coach of the Los Angeles Clippers and an alumnus of Dominguez High School, Los Angeles Harbor College and Pepperdine University. The Chicago Bulls are an American professional basketball team based in Chicago. 2002–03 Portland Trail Blazers Season
The 2002–03 NBA season was the 33rd season for the Portland Trail Blazers in the National Basketball Association. During the off-season, the Blazers acquired Antonio Daniels from the San Antonio Spurs, and signed free agent Jeff McInnis. Former Blazers center Arvydas Sabonis came out of his retirement, and returned to play for the team after a one-year absence. The Blazers got off to a mediocre 10–11 start, but then posted an 8-game winning streak in December, and held a 32–16 record at the All-Star break. 2002–03 Cleveland Cavaliers Season
The 2002–03 NBA season was the 33rd season of the National Basketball Association in Cleveland, Ohio. In the 2002 NBA draft, the Cavaliers selected Dajuan Wagner from the University of Memphis with the sixth pick, and selected Carlos Boozer out of Duke University with the 34th pick in the second round. During the off-season, the team acquired Darius Miles from the Los Angeles Clippers. After a 2–2 start to the season, the Cavaliers suffered a dreadful 15-game losing streak between November and December. The National Basketball Association's Sixth Man of the Year Award is an annual National Basketball Association (NBA) award given since the 1982–83 NBA season to the league's best performing player for his team coming off the bench as a substitute (or sixth man). A panel of sportswriters and broadcasters from throughout the United States and Canada votes on the recipient.
