2001 Sydney To Hobart Yacht Race
The 2001 Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, was the 57th annual running of the "blue water classic" Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race. As in past editions of the race, it was hosted by the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia based in Sydney, New South Wales. No sponsor was selected for this year. Storm Bay
The Storm Bay is a large bay in the south-east region of Tasmania, Australia. The bay is the river mouth to the Derwent River estuary and serves as the main port of Hobart, the capital city of Tasmania. John Kostecki
John Paul Kostecki (born July 7, 1964) is an American competitive sailor of Polish descent. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He started his sailing career in the San Francisco Bay, California. Events World Championships Kostecki won a number of world champion titles in different sailing classes. Olympics At the 1988 Summer Olympics in Busan, South Korea, he finished in 2nd place in the Soling class along with his partners William Baylis and Robert Billingham. Ross Field (sailor)
Ross Field (born 1949) is a New Zealand sailor who has competed in multiple Whitbread Round the World Races. Field, a former police detective from Wanganui, started sailing full time in 1985. He first sailed a Round the World Race on '' NZI Enterprise'' under skipper Digby Taylor. The boat did not finish the 1985–86 Whitbread Round the World Race. He was then on ''Steinlager 2'' when it won the 1989–90 Whitbread Round the World Race. For the 1993–94 Whitbread Round the World Race, Field skippered ''Yamaha''. ''Yamaha'' won the Whitbread 60 class and finished second overall. Field won the 1997 Fastnet Race on ''BIL''. He skippered '' America's Challenge'' during the 1997–98 Whitbread Round the World Race. Knut Mauritz Frostad (born 4 June 1967 in Harstad, Norway) is a Norwegian yachtsman, who has participated in a broad range of world championship level sailing events, including the Volvo Ocean Race and the Olympic Games, the latter in windsurfing. He is currently CEO of Navico, one of the largest manufacturers of marine electronics for the consumer market. Formerly he was the CEO of Volvo Ocean Race. In total, he has twice participated in the Olympic Games (1988 and 1992) and four times the Volvo Ocean Race; twice as skipper. In 2004, he won the Scandinavian Nokia Oops Cup and, in 2005, he finished second. He has a business background in management, director and advisor positions with international companies. Grant Dalton
Grant Stanley Dalton (born 1 July 1957) is a New Zealand sailor who has competed in five Whitbread Round the World Races and currently manages Team New Zealand. Background Dalton is a professional sailor who started sailing at the age 8 in the P Class and soon started racing as a member of Maraetai Sailing Club. He was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in the 1995 New Year Honours, for services to yachting. He was shortlisted in 2001 by the International Sailing Federation for the ISAF World Sailor of the Year Awards.
