2001 Calcutta Women's Football League was the 9th season of the Calcutta Women's Football League. The season consisted of twelve teams divided into two groups. The top four teams of each group would qualify for the knockouts where they would face each other in the quarterfinals. This was the first season that Kolkata giants East Bengal and Mohun Bagan formed and fielded their women's teams with East Bengal clinching the final 1–0 against Mohun Bagan to lift their first-ever title. Shanta Dhara scored the winning goal in the final. The Calcutta Women's Football League, also known as the Kanyashree Cup, is a women's football league in the Indian state of West Bengal. Founded in 1993, it is the oldest women's football league in India and organised by Indian Football Association (IFA), the official football governing body in the state. Mohun Bagan Athletic Club is an Indian professional sports club based in Kolkata, West Bengal. Founded in 1889, its football section is one of the oldest in India and Asia. The Kolkata Derby (locally known as "Boro Match"; bn, বড় ম্যাচ) is the football match in Kolkata, between East Bengal and ATK Mohun Bagan (Mohun Bagan till 2019–20). Sujata Kar
Sujata Kar (born 13 May 1980) is an Indian football coach and former footballer, who is currently the head coach of Sreebhumi. She also served as the head coach of the East Bengal side in their maiden appearance in the Indian Women's League season. She also represented and served as the captain of the India women's national football team in 2007. Early life Kar grew up in the Jadavpur area of Kolkata. Overtime or extra time is an additional period of play specified under the rules of a sport to bring a game to a decision and avoid declaring the match a tie or draw where the scores are the same. The golden goal or golden point is a rule used in association football, lacrosse, field hockey, and ice hockey to decide the winner of a match (typically a knock-out match) in which scores are equal at the end of normal time. It is a type of sudden death. Under this rule, the game ends when a goal or point is scored; the team that scores that goal or point during extra time is the winner. A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds.
