The 2001 Barber Dodge Pro Series season was the sixteenth season of this racing series. The championship was decided in the final round. Nicolas Rondet won the championship over Sepp Koster and Matt Plumb. Rafael Sperafico won the Rookie of the Year title. Barber Dodge Pro Series
The Barber Dodge Pro Series was a professional open-wheel auto racing series from 1986 to 2003. It was one of the first professional spec series for open-wheel racecars in North America. The races were primarily on road and street courses in North America, although the schedule did sometimes include a few ovals. This series is often confused with Skip Barber's long-standing amateur racing series which has always used different and significantly less powerful cars. The amateur series currently has regional and national components. The Barber Pro Series was a spec series, in which all cars were identically prepared by Skip Barber Racing. From its beginning in 1986 to 1994, the series was known as the Barber Saab Pro Series; the spec car was a tube-frame Mondiale chassis (basically a Formula Ford 2000 design) powered by a turbocharged 16-valve Saab 16v engine. Christian Szymczak (born March 4, 1974) is an American racecar driver who competed in the Barber Dodge Pro Series in 2001 and 2002, finishing 11th and 8th in points in his two years, respectively. Marc Breuers
Marc Breuers (born 10 April 1975 in New York City) is a former Barber Dodge Pro Series and Atlantic Championship driver. Racing career Breuers started his first competitive racing championship in 1999. Breuers won nine races in his inaugural season. Breuers finished second in the championship, three points behind Ryan Hunter-Reay. The young driver struggled in his first season in the Barber Dodge Pro Series. In 2000 his best results were two ninth place finishes at Lime Rock Park and Vancouver. For 2001 Breuers returned to the series. The American captured his first podium finish. At Cleveland Breuers finished behind Sepp Koster and Matt Plumb. With consistent top ten finishes Breuers finished sixth in the standings. Ryan Christopher Hunter-Reay (born December 17, 1980) is a professional American racing driver best known as a winner of both the Indianapolis 500 (2014) and the IndyCar Series championship in 2012. In each accomplishment, Hunter-Reay became the first American to win since Sam Hornish Jr. in 2006. Hunter-Reay also won in the defunct Champ Car World Series twice and the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. Juan Manuel Polar (born 24 September 1983 in Lima is a racing driver from Peru. He has previously competed in the Indy Lights, Spanish Formula Three Championship and Formula Renault among other series. Career Polar started is autoracing career in 2000 in the Skip Barber Formula Dodge Southern Race Series. At Sebring International Raceway the Peruvian won his first ever autorace. He eventually ran ten races in the series winning four races and he ended on the podium eight times. The Peruvian driver eventually classified seventh in the championship.
