2000–01 Washington Wizards Season
The 2000–01 NBA season was the 40th season for the Washington Wizards in the National Basketball Association, and their 28th season in Washington, D.C.. The city of Washington, D.C. hosted the 2001 NBA All-Star Game at the MCI Center this season. During the off-season, the Wizards acquired Felipe López and Cherokee Parks from the Vancouver Grizzlies, and acquired Popeye Jones from the Denver Nuggets. Under new head coach Leonard Hamilton, and later on trading Parks to the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for Tyrone Nesby, the Wizards continued to struggle posting a nine-game losing streak between November and December. The team lost nine straight again in January leading to an awful 7–34 start to the regular season, as Mitch Richmond only played just 37 games due to knee injuries. 1999–2000 Denver Nuggets Season
The 1999–2000 NBA season was the 24th season for the Denver Nuggets in the National Basketball Association, and their 33rd season as a franchise. It was also their first season playing at the Pepsi Center. The Nuggets had the 18th overall pick in the 1999 NBA draft, and selected small forward James Posey out of Xavier University. During the off-season, the team acquired Ron Mercer and Popeye Jones from the Boston Celtics, and signed free agent George McCloud. With Dan Issel back as head coach, the Nuggets played .500 basketball with a 17–15 record to start the regular season, but soon struggled and slipped below .500, holding a 21–27 record at the All-Star break. Rod Strickland
Rodney Strickland (born July 11, 1966) is an American basketball coach and former professional basketball player. He is currently the head coach at Long Island University. Prior to LIU, he served as the program manager for the NBA G League's professional path. Strickland played college basketball for the DePaul Blue Demons, earning All-American honors. He had a long career in the National Basketball Association (NBA), playing from 1988 to 2005. Strickland was an assistant coach for the South Florida Bulls, under Orlando Antigua from 2014 to 2017. Loy Vaught
Loy Stephen Vaught (born February 27, 1968) is an American former professional basketball player who spent ten seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA), primarily with the Los Angeles Clippers. Vaught played at East Kentwood High School in Kentwood, Michigan, a suburb of Grand Rapids, and helped lead the University of Michigan Wolverines to the 1989 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship. Calvin Lawrence Booth (born May 7, 1976) is an American professional basketball executive and former player who was the general manager of the Denver Nuggets of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
