The 2000 United States presidential election in Louisiana took place on November 7, 2000, and was part of the 2000 United States presidential election. Voters chose nine representatives, or electors to the Electoral College, who voted for president and vice president. Louisiana was won by Governor George W. Bush, a dramatic swing from the statewide results in 1996 when Democratic President Bill Clinton carried the state with 52% of the vote and with a double-digit margin of victory. Bush won most of the parishes and congressional districts in the state. Bush dominated among the rural areas of the state. The 2020 United States presidential election was the 59th quadrennial presidential election, held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. James Harris (Socialist Workers Party Politician)
James Harris (born 1948) is an American communist politician and member of the National Committee of the Socialist Workers Party. He was the party's candidate for President of the United States in 1996, receiving 8,463 votes, and again in 2000, receiving 7,378 votes. Harris also served as an alternate candidate for Róger Calero in 2004 and 2008 in states where Calero could not qualify for the ballot due to being born in Nicaragua. More recently Harris was the SWP candidate in the 2009 Los Angeles mayoral election, receiving 2,057 votes (0.89%). Harris served for a time as the national organization secretary of the SWP. Harry Edson Browne (June 17, 1933 – March 1, 2006) was an American writer, politician, and investment advisor. He was the Libertarian Party's Presidential nominee in the U.S. elections of 1996 and 2000. He authored 12 books that in total have sold more than 2 million copies. Howard Jay Phillips (February 3, 1941 – April 20, 2013) was an American politician and activist. A political conservative, Phillips was a United States presidential candidate who served as the chairman of The Conservative Caucus, a conservative public policy advocacy group which he founded in 1974.
