2000 Florida Marlins Season
The Florida Marlins' 2000 season was the eighth season for the Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise in the National League. It would begin with the team attempting to improve on their season from 1999. Their manager was John Boles. They played home games at Pro Player Stadium. They finished with a record of 79-82, 3rd in the NL East. National League East
The National League East is one of Major League Baseball's six divisions. Along with the American League Central it is one of two divisions to have every member win at least one World Series title. The division was created when the National League (along with the American League) added two expansion teams and divided into two divisions, East and West effective for the 1969 season. The National League's geographical alignment was rather peculiar as its partitioning was really more north and south instead of east and west. Two teams in the Eastern Time Zone, the Atlanta Braves and the Cincinnati Reds, were in the same division as teams on the Pacific coast. Antonio Alfonseca (; ; born April 16, 1972) is a Dominican former relief pitcher. He last pitched in Major League Baseball for the Philadelphia Phillies in . Bradley Wayne Penny (born May 24, 1978) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. Vladimir Núñez Zarabaza (born March 15, 1975) is a Cuban former Major League Baseball relief pitcher. He is currently the pitching coach for the Gulf Coast League Braves of the Gulf Coast League. He played for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Florida Marlins, Colorado Rockies, and Atlanta Braves. Daniel Miceli (born September 9, 1970) is an American former major league baseball relief pitcher. Early career Miceli began playing baseball during his senior year at Dr. Phillips High School in Florida where he was teammates with Brian Barber and won a single game as a pitcher. Miceli received an offer to play college baseball at Polk Community College and was not selected in the Major League Baseball draft. He signed with the Kansas City Royals after seeing an advertisement for an open tryout in the ''Orlando Sentinel''. Miceli never saw time at the major league level for Kansas City. High school Looper was a scholar athlete while a student at Mangum High School in Mangum, Oklahoma. Alexander Fernandez (born August 13, 1969) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He pitched for the Chicago White Sox (1990–96) and Florida Marlins (1997, 1999–2000) in his 11-year Major League Baseball career.
