2000 Cannes Film Festival
The 53rd Cannes Film Festival started on 14 May and ran until 25 May 2000. French film director, screenwriter, and producer Luc Besson was the Jury President. The Palme d'Or went to the Danish film ''Dancer in the Dark'' by Lars von Trier. The festival opened with '' Vatel'', directed by Roland Joffé and closed with '' Stardom'', directed by Denys Arcand. Lorenzo Mattotti
Lorenzo Mattotti (born 24 January 1954) is an Italian comics artist as well as an illustrator. His illustrations have been published in magazines such as ''Cosmopolitan (magazine), Cosmopolitan'', ''Vogue (magazine), Vogue'', ''The New Yorker'', ''Le Monde'' and ''Vanity Fair (magazine), Vanity Fair''. In comics, Mattotti won an Eisner Award in 2003 for his ''Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde'' graphic novel. Biography Mattotti was born in Brescia (Lombardy). He studied architecture when he was young, but did not finish the course. Instead he became a comics artist. Cinéfondation
La ''Cinéfondation'' is a foundation under the aegis of the Cannes Film Festival, created to inspire and support the next generation of international filmmakers. It was created in 1998 by Gilles Jacob. Since then it has developed complementary programmes to help achieve its goal. Today it is divided into three different parts: *The Selection *The Residence *The Atelier. The Selection Each year, the Cinéfondation selects 15 to 20 short and medium-length films presented by film schools from all over the world. Barbara Sukowa (; born 2 February 1950) is a German actress of screen and stage and singer. She has received three German Film Awards for Best Actress, three Bavarian Film Awards, Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress, Venice Film Festival Award, and well as nomination for European Film Awards, César Awards and Grammy Awards.
