1st Lithuanian National Cavalry Brigade, also known as Hussar or Kaunas Brigade was an 18th-century National Cavalry Brigade of the Grand Ducal Lithuanian Army. It was formed in 1776. This regiment was garrisoned at Kaunas, Minskas (1789), Kėdainiai (1790), Vilkmergė, Panevėžys, Raseiniai, and Šiauliai. In the War of 1792, the unit fought in the battles of Naujieji Sveržanai (10 June 1792), Mir (June 11) and Joniškėlis. Szymon Zabiełło was a Polish-Lithuanian nobleman (Polish: ''szlachcic'') of the Topór clan (born 14 July 1750, Czerwony Dwór, Grand Duchy of Lithuania, died in 1824). He was the castellan of Minsk from 1783 to 1787, lieutenant general of the Grand Ducal Lithuanian Army, and a member of its General Staff in 1792. He was an envoy to the Grodno Sejm, a member of the Patriotic Party, the Grodno Confederation in 1793, as well as the Permanent Council, and a participant of the Kościuszko Uprising in Lithuania. Family The son of Antoni Zabiełło and Zofia Niemirowicz-Szczytt, the daughter of the castellan of Mścisław, Józef Szczytt. Skuodas
Skuodas (; Samogitian: ''Skouds'') is a city located in Klaipėda County, in northwestern Lithuania, on the border with Latvia. The Bartuva river flows through the town. History Skuodas was first mentioned in written sources in 1253. At that time it belonged to Ceklis land. In 1572 city rights were granted to Skuodas thanks to Jan Hieronimowicz Chodkiewicz who owned the city. The same year after the city rights were granted, a new part of the city started to settle on the right wing of Bartuva river. In the centre of this part there were built a new rectangular square, town hall, commercial buildings. After Chodkiewicz's era Sapieha family got the city as a trousseau and became the owners of Skuodas. Sapieha family owned the city until 1832.
