1st Battalion, Sindh Regiment
The 1st Battalion, Sindh Regiment is an infantry battalion of the Sindh Regiment of the Pakistan Army. History The battalion was originally raised in 1940 as the 6th Battalion (Machine Gun), 8th Punjab Regiment in the British Indian Army. It initially served on the North West Frontier in: * Peshawar Brigade * Razmak Brigade * Landi Kotal Brigade (August 1943 - September 1944) From May to October 1945 the battalion participated in the Burma campaign as part of 23rd Indian Infantry Division. Its companies provided machine gun support to the 1st, 37th, and 49th Indian Infantry Brigades. The battalion was then sent with the 23rd Division to Central Java in November 1945. From April 1946 it transferred to the Buitenzorg Brigade when the remainder of the division returned to India. Line Infantry
Line infantry was the type of infantry that composed the basis of European land armies from the late 17th century to the mid-19th century. Maurice of Nassau and Gustavus Adolphus are generally regarded as its pioneers, while Turenne and Montecuccoli are closely associated with the post-1648 development of linear infantry tactics. For both battle and parade drill, it consisted of two to four ranks of foot soldiers drawn up side by side in rigid alignment, and thereby maximizing the effect of their firepower. By extension, the term came to be applied to the regular regiments "of the line" as opposed to light infantry, skirmishers, militia, support personnel, plus some other special categories of infantry not focused on heavy front line combat. Francis Albert Eley Crew
Francis Albert Eley Crew FRS FRSE LLD (2 March 1886 – 26 May 1973) was an English animal geneticist. He was a pioneer in his field leading to the University of Edinburgh’s place as a world leader in the science of animal genetics. He was the first Director of the Institute of Animal Breeding and the first Professor of Animal Genetics. He is said to have laid the foundations of medical genetics. The Indian Army is the land-based branch and the largest component of the Indian Armed Forces. The Bahawalpur Regiment was a regiment of Pakistan Army. 10th Baluch Regiment
The 10th Baluch or Baluch Regiment was a regiment of the British Indian Army from 1922 to 1947. After Partition of India, independence, it was transferred to the Pakistan Army. In 1956, it was amalgamated with the 8th Punjab Regiment, 8th Punjab and Bahawalpur Regiments. During more than a hundred years of military service, the 10th Baluch Regiment acquired a distinguished record amongst the regiments of the British Indian Army. 49th Indian Infantry Brigade
The 49th Indian Infantry Brigade was an infantry brigade formation of the Indian Army during World War II. It was formed in October 1941 at Bolarum in India. It was assigned to the 19th Indian Infantry Division. The brigade fought in the Burma Campaign and moved between a number of infantry divisions.
