''1 News'' (stylised as ''1News'') is the news division of New Zealand television network TVNZ. The service is broadcast live from TVNZ Centre in Auckland. The flagship news bulletin is the nightly 6 pm news hour, but ''1 News'' also has midday and late night news bulletins, as well as current affairs shows such as ''Breakfast'' and ''Seven Sharp''. The 6 pm programme is New Zealand's most-watched news programme. As of July 2008, it has a market share of 44% (651,400+ each night). TVNZ's Executive Editor, News and Current Affairs (formerly known as Head of News and Current Affairs) is Phil O'Sullivan. The multiple-camera setup, multiple-camera mode of production, multi-camera or simply multicam is a method of filmmaking and video production. Several cameras—either film cameras, film or professional video cameras—are employed on the set and simultaneously record or broadcast a scene. It is often contrasted with a single-camera setup, which uses one camera. Description Generally, the two outer cameras shoot close-up shots or "crosses" of the two most active characters on the set at any given time, while the central camera or cameras shoot a wider master shot to capture the overall action and establish the geography of the room. John Dougal Stevenson (born 1942) is a former New Zealand television news presenter. Early life Born in Dunedin in 1942 to a young unmarried mother, Stevenson was adopted out while still a young infant to a family living near Wānaka in Central Otago. His adoptive father was a farmer; his adoptive mother – who died when Dougal was still a young child – was a classically trained musician. After his adoptive mother's death, Stevenson was sent to boarding school, which was – in his own words – "barbaric", followed by high school, which did not interest him. John Hawkesby
John Langley Hawkesby (born 1947) is a former news presenter for ONE News and THREE News in New Zealand. Hawkesby attended Auckland Grammar School in 1964. His started his broadcasting career in 1972 when he researched and presented Radio New Zealand's Christian oriented "Reflecting On" programme. This programme achieved six Mobil Radio Awards for "Excellence in Broadcasting". In 1986 Hawkesby moved to Radio Hauraki and read the breakfast news. In 1977 he joined TV2 as newsreader and in 1981 presented the top rating ''Top Half'' regional news programme for TVNZ. South Pacific Television
South Pacific Television (SPTV) was a television channel in New Zealand, which operated between 1976 and 1980. History The channel, then known as TV2, first went to air on 30 June 1975. It was the second national government television channel to be established in the country that year, after Television One went to air on 1 April, replacing the former New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation's TV service. In its first week, the network held New Zealand's first Telethon in aid of the St John Ambulance. It raised $593,878. The channel could only be picked up in Auckland and Christchurch when it first went to air, but it was limited in Christchurch due to a faulty transmitter. Jennifer Goodwin (born ) is a New Zealand journalist, television newsreader and continuity announcer. On Monday 30 June 1975 she became a news presenter on the newly launched TV-2, making her New Zealand's first female television newsreader, and the first woman within the Commonwealth of Nations to present a prime time news programme. Warkworth (Māori: ''Mahurangi'') is a town on the Northland Peninsula in the upper North Island of New Zealand. It is in the northern part of the Auckland Region.
