1999 UCLA Bruins Softball Team
The 1999 UCLA Bruins softball team represented the University of California, Los Angeles in the 1999 NCAA Division I softball season. The Bruins were coached by Sue Enquist, in her eleventh season. The Bruins played their home games at Easton Stadium and finished with a record of 63–6. They competed in the Pacific-10 Conference, where they finished first with a 22–6 record. The Bruins were invited to the 1999 NCAA Division I softball tournament, where they swept the 1999 NCAA Division I softball tournament#Regional No. 1, West Regional and then completed a run through the 1999 NCAA Division I softball tournament#Women's College World Series, Women's College World Series to claim their eighth Women's College World Series Championship. The Bruins had earlier claimed an Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women, AIAW title in 1978 and NCAA titles in 1982, 1984, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1992, and 1995. Sue Enquist
Susan Enquist (born August 24, 1957) is a former softball player and coach. She played softball at UCLA under Sharron Backus from 1975 to 1978. She helped lead UCLA to its first national softball championship in the 1978 Women's College World Series and became UCLA's first All-American softball player. Playing career Her career batting average of .401 was the UCLA team record for 24 years. She also played for the Raybestos Brakettes and helped lead the team to Amateur Softball Association national championships in 1976, 1977, 1978, and 1980. Coaching career After receiving a bachelor's degree in kinesiology in 1980, Enquist joined the coaching staff of the UCLA softball team. She was an assistant coach under Sharron Backus from 1980 to 1988. In 1989, she was appointed as the co-head coach with Backus, a position she held for eight years from 1989 to 1996. Jane Sanders Stadium, nicknamed "The Jane", is an outdoor softball stadium in Eugene, Oregon, United States. Located on the south side of the University of Oregon (UO) campus at 18th and University, it is the home field of the Oregon Ducks of the Pac-12 Conference. Robert C. "Bob" Sanders donated more than $16 million to build the stadium, a memorial to his late wife Jane Sanders, who had been a longtime fan of Ducks softball. Northridge, California
Northridge is a neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley region of the City of Los Angeles. The community is home to California State University, Northridge, and the Northridge Fashion Center.
