1999 Shanghai International Film Festival
The 4th Shanghai International Film Festival was held between October 22 and October 31, 1999. Like the previous year, the Film Festival was divided into four activities: *Golden Cup International Film Competition *International Film Panorama *International Film and TV Market *Retrospectives with Seminar 338 films were entered. Propaganda (1999 Film)
''Propaganda'' is a 1999 Turkish comedy film written, directed and produced Sinan Çetin. The film, which is a darkly surreal comedy set in a sleepy village in the southeast Turkey in 1948, starred popular comedy actor Kemal Sunal, who died a year later in 2000. It was shown in competition at the 18th Istanbul International Film Festival and the 4th Shanghai International Film Festival, where it won the Golden Goblet, and went on general release across Turkey on . Production The film was shot on location in Hatay, Turkey. Synopsis Based on a true story set in 1948, customs officer Mehti is faced with the duty of formally setting up the border between Turkey and Syria, dividing his hometown. He is unaware of the pain that will imminently unfold, as families, languages, cultures and lovers are both ripped apart and clash head on in a village once united. Lucia Rikaki
Lucia Rikaki ( gr, Λουκία Ρικάκη; 14 July 1961, Piraeus – 28 December 2011, Athens) was a Greek film director, documentarist, writer and producer. From 1979 to 1981 Rikaki studied art history, graphic design, cinema and photography at the Dartington College of Arts Dartington College of Arts was a specialist arts college located at Dartington Hall in the south-west of England, offering courses at degree and postgraduate level together with an arts research programme. It existed for a period of almost 50 ... in Devon, England. In 1984 she founded "Orama Films" producing art films, TV programmes and theatrical plays. In 1995 she created "104 Art Theater Stage", and "The Comedy Club" the only stand-up comedy venue to date in Greece.
