The 1999 San Miguel Beermen season was the 25th season of the franchise in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Jong Uichico
Joseph Enrique Uichico (born July 15, 1962), better known as Jong Uichico, is a Filipino professional basketball coach who last coached the Bataan Risers in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League. Uichico is a former Philippine national team Youth member and a former player and head coach of the La Salle Green Archers in the UAAP before replacing Ron Jacobs as SMB coach in 1999. Uichico was coach of the San Miguel Beermen from 1999–2006, leading the Beermen to six PBA championships. Basketball career Uichico played for the La Salle Green Archers in the collegiate ranks. He was a member of the 1982 RP Youth Team that won the ABC Under-18 Championship. Siot Tanquingcen
Bethune "Siot" Tanquingcen is a Filipino professional basketball head coach. He is currently an assistant coach for the Benilde Blazers. As coach, Tanquingcen has won three PBA championships: two with Barangay Ginebra San Miguel ( 2004 Fiesta Conference and 2004–2005 Philippine Cup) and one with the San Miguel Beermen ( 2009 Fiesta Conference). The Metropolitan Basketball Association (MBA), or Metroball, was a professional basketball league in the Philippines that ran from March 7, 1998, to July 26, 2002. History The MBA played its first game on March 7, 1998, at the Don Narciso Ramos Sports Complex in Lingayen, Pangasinan. Unlike the Philippine Basketball Association, in which teams represent companies, the MBA teams represented a particular city, province or island in the country. The league brought basketball closer to the people, and it raided the PBA for talent. The Cebu Gems also known as Cebuana Lhuillier Gems were a professional basketball team in the now-defunct Metropolitan Basketball Association from 1998 to 2002. Nicholas M. Bayaca Belasco (born December 10, 1973) is a Filipino-American professional basketball player who last played for the Pasig Sta. Lucia Realtors of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). He was drafted 2nd overall by Sunkist in 1997. Nelson Asaytono
Nelson Asaytono (born January 25, 1967) is a Filipino retired professional basketball player who played for Purefoods, Swift/Sunkist/Pop Cola, San Miguel Beer, and Red Bull in the PBA during his 17-year career. Collegiate / Amateur career Asaytono is one of the best players ever to step up in a less-known university in University of Manila under the tutelage of former pro Loreto Tolentino, his coach at UM Hawks. His first national stint was being part of the RP Youth team that played in the 9th ABC Youth Championships held in Manila. Cris Bolado
Crisanto "Jumbo" Bolado (October 25, 1969 – September 17, 2017) was a Filipino professional basketball player. Basketball career Bolado played for the National University Bulldogs during his college years. He was selected by Alaska in the second round of the 1994 PBA draft. Listed at , Bolado tied Dong Polistico of the San Miguel Beermen as the second tallest player in the league at that time. He became part of the Alaska Milkmen's 1996 Grand Slam team and in terms of finals stints, Bolado was one of the most successful in the PBA, making it to the championship series for ten straight times - from Alaska, Purefoods, and Gordon's Gin. The 1999 Pop Cola 800s season was the 10th season of the franchise in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Draft pick Direct hire Summary The 800s were five wins and three losses after the first round of eliminations in the All-Filipino Cup. Pop Cola lost four straight games at the start of the second round and finish with an overall 7-9 won-loss slate. William Lamont Strothers (born May 10, 1968) is a retired American professional basketball player. Born in Nansemond County, Virginia Strothers played college basketball for Christopher Newport. He was selected in the 1991 NBA draft and had short stints in the NBA with the Portland Trail Blazers and the Dallas Mavericks.
